Broncos Shake Up Linebacker Spots, Sanders Eyes Edge Role

0:00On April 21st, the Denver Broncos are shaking up their linebacker spots heading into the 2026 season. Nick Benito and Jonathan Cooper are locked in as the outside starters, no question. Inside, it's wide open with Alex Singleton and Justin Strohnad projected to start after getting resigned this off-season. The team plans to shift 30-year-guy Jonah Ellis from outside to inside for more depth there. Meanwhile, they're moving Drew Sanders back to the edge where they think he fits best entering his fourth year. Sanders came in as a third-round pick from Arkansas back in 2023, a versatile tweener type. But injury sideline him for the whole 2025 season, and he's only played four games over the past two years total. On the same day, outside linebacker Dondrea Tillman, aimed a one-year exclusive rights tender. Broncos are stacked outside, but thin inside, even with Ellis switching over, so this gives Sanders a shot to stick. It'll be a battle in camp. Sanders could shine on the edge or get cut if he doesn't click.
