On March 9th, a British Airways flight from Ghana to London Heathrow had to declare an emergency due to a passenger's medical issue. The plane, Flight BA-78, took off from Katoka International Airport at 1025 PM local time on Sunday and was cruising at 38,000 feet when the crew issued the General Emergency Code. Crew diverted the Airbus A-351,000 right away to the nearest airport in Lyon, France. It landed safely at Leon St. Exu Perry at 5.26 AM local time, stayed on the ground for two hours to refuel, then continued on to Heathrow. Passengers handled the unexpected stop calmly with the ill-traveler getting quick medical care. No other injuries were reported on that flight. This comes right after a United Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from Los Angeles to New York. Turned back over a left-engine fire. The plane landed safely at LAX around 11.20 AM local time early March, and all 256 passengers
plus 12 crew evacuated, using slides and stairs. One person had a minor finger injury, but everyone else was fine. United got folds back to the terminal by bus and is re-booking them, while the Federal Aviation Administration starts his investigation into the engine. Problem. The driver will stay safe overall, even with these rare scares.
