The optician noticed her right optic nerve was unusually swollen and rushed her to the emergency room for scans. Doctors found the growth pressing on vital areas and operated within 48 hours to remove it. The tumor was non-cancerous but it kept re-growing, requiring four more brain surgeries plus an ear procedure over the next few years. She dealt with infections that meant removing part of her skull temporarily and fitting it with titanium and later biocompatible plates. In 2024, she finished six weeks of proton-beam therapy. Holly had to pause her teacher training and miss a lot of work, which left her scared and confused at first. Holly now pushes awareness to encourage checkups, proving resilience amidst setbacks while eyeing more pageant successes.
