And second though, we're going to be talking about the, you know, something that I find interesting that maybe I haven't brought up yet. That's chance trick it and kind of his career path. What his goal and reputation is. Or at least what I think his goal may be and what his reputation is. And NFL scouting and how that helps West Virginia football. He has had quite the track record. Let's just go ahead and go there and talk about that.

3:03So that's it. That's the two topics we're going to talk about. And then we will move on and do a couple other videos here today as well. We get time. Miles Sadler, one today, by the way, we just did a video on him. And he, they won today. So they did advance to the championship game where he had 26 more points today. So he's, he's playing like the best player in all of high school basketball right now. But anyways, back to the West Virginia women. It just broke not even an hour ago, maybe an hour ago at this point. The NCAA just revealed the top 16s for the women's basketball tournament. And West Virginia mountaineers are officially on the list. I think they were the last team in. But either way, this means one thing that the West Virginia women's basketball team. And the NCAA tournament is coming to Morgan town. Obviously, we know we know West Virginia is won the big 12 tournament. They won 27 games this year. Now they're sitting among the top teams in the entire country with programs.

4:06Like Yukon, UCLA, South Carolina in Texas, who are the four top top four number one seeds. So let's break down what that means for West Virginia. What does it mean to be a top 16 team? Why hosting in Morgan town matter so much? And whether this team can make the deep tournament run or the deepest run program history? So first of all, the big reveal happened today. I think at four o'clock, the NCAA released its top 16 preview ahead of selection Sunday. And obviously the list includes powerhouse programs like Yukon, you know, like South Carolina, et cetera. But now what's Virginia's right there with them? One of the top 16 teams. Duke is in there. Team West Virginia beat this year, obviously. Interestingly enough, Dom puts a white and the Minnesota golden gopers are in there.

5:06So it seems like she's done well and heard her stop in Minnesota. TCU is in there. Obviously West Virginia beat them. So that's interesting because they obviously were probably the best team in the big 12 all year. And so the big 12 gets to in to this tournament. And, you know, I think when you look at it. You're in pretty good shape here because the top 16 C is going to host not just the first round, but the first two rounds. If you can win as long as you win your first game. So this isn't just some random happenstance. The NCAA told West Virginia on Saturday that you're going to be one of the top 16 teams in America. So that means that if you, you know, if you hadn't won the big 12 championship, probably doesn't happen for you. Yeah. This is really where the locked on, you know, West Virginia is kind of locked in, in my opinion.

6:06Now you beat TCU. You've got a little momentum as you beat them 62 to 53. I think it was the big 12 title game. West Virginia lost twice to them earlier in the year, which I found to be interesting. You know, heading into that game. I think a lot of people noted that. Then they flipped to script and had a much better performance. And it was a good performance. I mean, it really was. Jordan Harrison is obviously shows. While she's one of the best premier ball handlers in America. And one of the best on ball defenders in America. Sydney Shaw is also obviously a great score. Love watching her play ball too. When the lights were brightest, West Virginia delivered. And Mark Kellogg deserves all the credit. I saw somebody put, this is Mark Madness. And I like that. I think I'm going to coin that for as long as they're in the tournament.

7:08It is Mark Madness now. Because, you know, you think about the accomplishments of a Mark Kellogg. And, you know, I think there could be no debate. You have to pay him after the season. Even if you've already extended him. Extend him again. Extend him again. Make that buy it. Make that buy out a big make it Kim Markey sized. You know, because. This is 27 wins. This is three straight 25 or more win seasons for him. That's second. And the second big 12 total title pro. Big 12 title and program history. But the first in a long while. So. You look at what they've done at home. They've been 44 and five or the last three seasons. And now you're giving this guy two games in the tournament. You know, I think we're going to have teams walk into the Colosseum of March. And they're going to walk out.

8:09Yeah, they'll become better teams along the way. But they're going to walk out low losers. They'll be ahead of the world. And then you can. It's a big downtown. We're 44 and five and at home. That's a big deal. So. If you want to talk about West Virginia. This is where they'll come out and go to the US, these are insane scores. Hell, they even be, you know, I'm trying to think Texas even beat South Carolina by billion to win the SEC tournament. So, you know, these top seeds are legitimate. Maybe some of the most dominant top poor seeds we've seen in a while. They're all like some of those old school Yukon teams and Gino is still coaching them. But the reason West Virginia

9:12hosting his massive is because you avoid the travel opponents have to come to you and the Coliseum has a big crowd advantage. If we're gonna have anywhere from 10 to 15,000 in there, we'll have a big advantage in this game, which kind of paints the pictures, right? Paints a picture for everybody. Because, you know, you've got a 13 seed walking in the Morgan town with a little pep in their step and mountain air fans are screaming for the entire first, you know, three quarters of that game till it's a blowout. That's what it's gonna be like we hope, right? That could, you know, I think the crowd could help decide how far this team goes because you get past these two rounds. You never know what'll happen. So, next, obviously West Virginia will either be a three or a four, probably a four, but we'll see. You know, the early round teams and when you're a three or four can be tricky, but more so men's basketball than

10:15women's and men's basketball. It's a lot more common to see a 12, five upset or, you know, a 13, four or whatever, right? So, you know, do I think a 13 or 14 seed is going to beat a three or four or whatever it is in women's no, I don't probably think that this year. I'm not sure how often it's happened either. We'd have to go look at that. But, you know, at the end of the day, this is a huge deal for them. And Mark Kellogg sat down with me with me before the year. And the name of that show was championship goals. I think the goals have been attained. But I mean, obviously there's one big one still out there that they still have to go chase down. I mean, I, you know, I'm not going to count them out. I'm going to say they can't do it 100%. But it's going to be tough, you know, I think real progress. If you can win these two games at home, it gets

11:18as we 16. That would be enormous. The program going forward. And I think that he's continuing to build it. We'll see more at Mark Kellogg takes it after this. But congratulations to the women for getting to host a not one, but two games at the Coliseum. I see people in the text saying they've already got their ticket. So that must mean you live on campus or something. But, yeah, we should all have chances to buy our tickets here soon. It's probably going to sell out fast. So be ready for that. And all of that. While we kind of get through this here, because I think Chance Tricket is an interesting conversation to have. Obviously he's on that that trick at tree, right? And those guys are good at everything. It seems like football anyways. They were all raised around it. So that's his background, right? Obviously, if you want to talk about what he's bringing to the program right now,

18:39what has he been doing, which is kind of a rare blend of NFL scouting and college recruiting experience right now, which is exactly what programs are trying to replicate. Now as college football comes increasingly more like the NFL, which is me honest. So when he was recruiting assistant at Florida State for two seasons, he was the director of recruiting at Louisiana Tech for a season. He was a college area scout for the LA Rams for ten years. I mean, just incredible amount of experience doing this guys. He was the director of player evaluations now here at West Virginia for this season and beyond. We'll see exactly what that looks like going forward. But you know, he also happens to be a West Virginia native. And so that helps that a lot, right? You want to see that. Absolutely. And then not his reputation. And NFL scouting is pretty damn good. If you look at what the Rams were famous for and you

19:42look how good those Rams team became. They were really good at building a roster without a ton of first round draft picks because they gave a lot of them away for Stafford and guys like that. And even I think there's still a little messed up on some endemic ensues for his money goes. I think they were still paying him some money. They're allowed a couple of years back. You know, he likes to use analytics film and character evaluation, which is a good combination. If you want to talk about players that the Rams drafted or discovered while he was around, how about to the Pukinakua, all pro, all everything wide receiver. Kobe Turner, who was a breakout defensive lineman there this year or last year. I can't remember. Byron Young, which has been a really productive pass rusher, Ernest Jones, starting linebacker. Kobe Durant, a starting DB for them. And Blake Corm, who is obviously we know Blake Corm is

20:47what a stud he is at running back. And I mean, it feels like I haven't heard his name in a while, but yeah, Blake Corm, yet another name on this list that, you know, Calhoun was involved with. And that's a big deal to me. These are the kinds of players West Virginia can try to find now. Undervalued talents that outperform recruiting rankings. And then that thinks that's what they're going to try to do for the most part. Doesn't mean they won't get four star guys and things still. Or in the portal, or you know, I think it's mostly for the portal, if you ask me. They'll probably ask him some. On the football I'm assuming they'll be running a lot of these by him. But it's not like he's signing off on it. You know, he's either saying, I like it or I don't. And then they can make their own decisions from there. But I would listen to the guy. And if he sounded like he knows ball, which you're going to know within five seconds, if you've ever talked to anybody that actually knows it, I am nowhere near somebody that would actually know it like on that level. So they can

21:50have full blown conversations in a different language, you know, almost like about it. So right now, I would say this. His job is to evaluate film, which is breaking down to hundreds of prospects per year across multiple conferences. You track things like speed, linked explosiveness, growth projection. And so your mental evaluations are very important. At West Virginia, they're going to slow down really soon. And you're not going to have, you know, a ton. Hopefully you would imagine hopefully a ton of these guys coming in that you have to evaluate going forward because it's going to be difficult as the years go on. If the continues to grow and grow and grow and you're always bringing in 60 guys, well, think about this. Even the best evaluators don't hit on what 25, 30% of their guys they bring in, I would imagine. I don't know what a good number would

22:54be. Maybe it's 40%, 50% if you're really good. So in the least amount of guys you got to bring in the better in some ways, right? I mean, because you're going to have a lot of dead weight on your team, if you miss on, you know, a third of the guys that came in, now you've got to, they've got to go back to the portal and you just never get established. But Rich Rodd explained the reasons they wanted him and modern college football, you got to have three talent podplines. High school recruiting transfer portal NIL, you know, portal, whatever you want to call it, management. And also, you know, you want a guy that can do this quickly and efficiently, if you need him to. That professional scouting methodology is something that's not easy to get kind of a hold of and the fact that he has that gives him a real big foothold, at least into that world and what that world is very detailed and analytical. I mean, guess in Rich Rodd, he may look at some numbers, but I'm going to assume he's

23:56probably a gut feeling guy and just watching on a field. So if you're evaluating a 22-year-old college veteran or a former four star or, you know, if it's like maybe a group of five standing out player, I mean, that's very possible too. But, you know, very unlikely to NFL, you know, level athletes leave depth charts as often as we would like, but when they do, you know, you would hope chance to figure out a way to snack those guys, snack those guys up with some, you know, unique talk that would appeal to guys like that, hopefully. Not all positions carry equal value, we know that whether that's an elite pass rusher or a corner, you know, you have to know the difference. Risk modeling as far as some injury history, you know, there's transfer, the transfer

24:58likelihood for some guys. There's NFL cost production from a lot of these guys and you have to figure out who was what and who was where and which is who and oh my gosh, and some people feel less than because they're getting paid less than and you're just going to deal with that. It's going to happen whether you agree with it or not, which is why if I were getting paid, I wouldn't talk about it on there. I wouldn't mention if I was a football player in that locker room because it can only hurt things. People feel like they're being left out. So this helps West Virginia, obviously, you're, you know, are you going to be a program like Alabama, Georgia or Texas? No, because you're just not going to have enough money to do that year and year out. But if you can stay relevant and good enough to be, you know, make a run at every one every couple of years, that would be a great deal. Great thing. And then before you know it, Zach Alley may take over and maybe it would come to the even better situation or maybe it falls

26:01off. But either way, I think it's going to be fun as heck to watch, man, because this is going to be an interesting time frame for the West Virginia Mountaineer football team. I'm excited to see what what Chance Trick it does going forward, who is now the director of player evaluation, along with Chuck Willey, who I've heard a lot of great things about.
