Welcome to Kids Learning Lab, a learning podcast made just for kids. Welcome back to another Kids Learning Lab bonus episode. Bonus episodes come every two days and we explain a random fact that you might have. Today's question is... Have you ever felt wind and noticed tiny bumps popping up on your arms? Those are called goose bumps. Underneath your skin there are tiny muscles attached to each hair. When you get cold or feel a strong emotion like fear or excitement, those muscles squeeze and pull the hairs up straight, which pushes the skin around them into little bumps. A long time ago our ancestors had much more body hair, so this trick helped puff up their fur to trap warm air or to look bigger to scare away danger. So even though we don't have much body hair anymore, our skin stills remember that old
