Bolton Gang Sentenced for £41M Cigarette Smuggling

0:00On April 24, 11 guys from a Bolton gang just got hit with sentences for smuggling over 150 million cigarettes into the UK, dodging, more than 41 million pounds in taxes. This massive operation got busted by HM Revenue and Customs after years of undercover work. Investigators tailed them, snapped photos, and recorded chats from August 2017 to April 2018. They napped 2.5 million smokes and almost 1 million pounds in cash during stops on suspicious vans. The crew ran out of spots in Lancashire and Staffordshire, swapping vehicles and handing off boxes during 15 key deliveries that fall and winter. All 11 pleaded guilty to fraud or organized crime charges and court hearings from 2023 to 2025. Yesterday a Manchester Crown Court, five landed immediate jail time topping two years each, while the other six got suspended sentences up to three. Years, no one saw the surveillance coming and is shut down their whole network.
