The team is now highlighting that legacy by profiling every number and the athlete to war them. Kicking things off as jersey number 50, Don by just 8 players in franchise history, founded in 1946 as part of the Basketball Association of America, the precursor to the NBA. The Warriors have bounced around from Philadelphia to San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego over the decades. Bob Allen, a forward from Port Huron, Michigan, was the first to wear number 50 for the team. Fresh out of college at Marshall University, he entered the league after being selected 71st overall in the 1968 NBA Draft Buy. To then San Francisco Warriors, Allen stuck around for just one season, his only year in the NBA. He suited up exclusively in number 50 and quickly became part of the team's deep roster
