What is up everybody, it's your girl Denise Salcedo, filling in to chat some AEW dynamite here. I'm busted open after dark. Let's kick things off with a fantastic main event between Rooosh and Darby Allen. This is the Busted Open podcast. I am doing my first ever AEW dynamite, Busted Open podcast. Darby, no. Pew, pew, pew, pew, pew. And this was probably the best time for me to do this, by the way, and you want to know why. You want to know why? Because guys, I am on, I'm so freaking happy. I am on cloud nine right now. Because we just watched a match that I absolutely loved. Okay, I'm talking roller coaster high. I want to ride the ride again, maybe one more time after that because Rooosh versus Darby Allen freaking killed it today. And I'm saying killed it. If you're listening to this show right now, and if you did not watch dynamite,
and you're thinking, ah, should I tune in today? Should I nod? Maybe I just want to catch the highlights. Whatever you do, please do not miss Rooosh versus Darby Allen. That is it. That is it. Everything else? Fine, whatever. Do as you please. But Rooosh versus Darby, go check it out everyone. Also, before I get into why I love that match and before I get into more in-depth thoughts about that, I do want to let you guys know that I am going to be taking calls throughout the day. And because this is my first time doing dynamite here on the show, I kind of want to make this a night where maybe we get like a shit ton of sickos out there that want to call in and want to talk about how they feel heading into A.W. Allen and what they thought about this show. Like, let's make this the most called into after dark dynamite show if possible. So dial 877-3444-4893. Come on, I'm calling and looking for all sickos out there.
Okay, so while you guys get your thoughts together, I do want to take a second and describe why I love Darby Allen versus Rooosh. Now, I'm going to be real with you. I love matches, especially matches that start off hot. I love when matches start in a way where you're like, oh, we're locked in. There's no going back now. You're watching, you're staying here, you're going to enjoy this. And I loved that this match between Rooosh and Darby Allen had a major sense of urgency throughout the entire match and the best part was, this was so funny, that before Rooosh even went out there before this match even started, if I was doing a live stream on my channel watching dynamite with everybody and people were like, dude, rip Darby, rip Darby, Darby's gonna get killed, Darby's gonna whatever, right? Here's the thing, we know Darby is very extreme. We know that Darby is willing to do things that not the normal human being is willing to do.
And Rooosh, I almost feel that when they were putting together this match, when they were getting everything all hatched out, I almost feel that Darby was just like, hey, dude, just, you don't have the best freaking time. Go out there, throw me around and beat me up because that is exactly what we saw. Rooosh went out there and he did not hold back, man. He was throwing Darby's body around everywhere and Darby was throwing his own body everywhere. There was a nasty spot, I'm gonna try to name everything that was brutal in this matchup. Darby freaking going through the steel steps and hitting the barricade, don't ask me how that happened, but it did. Darby being thrown, he did a dive. He did a dive and you know those Darby dives, they always give us hella anxiety. Darby did a dive to the outside and just bang. Rooosh moved out the damn way and Darby freaking got, like he went right into that barricade to the point where he was like busted open afterwards
and here's the crazy part, the crazy visual. I didn't realize that Darby had a band-aid on his forehead. So when that dude was bleeding and I just saw like a big flap on his face, I legitimately thought that was his skin and I thought, oh dear God, no, please do not let that be that man's skin. It wasn't, it was his band-aid thank goodness, but the visual of that was so gnarly and because we know that Darby is willing to do all these crazy things, it's kind of like what you expect from Darby, but that was one. He did a freaking, he did a drop kick off the top of the turnbuckle, Darby did that to Rooosh while Rooosh was on a freaking chair. Then one of my favorite parts was when Darby started trying to drop Rooosh and Rooosh basically no sold him, he no sold his chops and then returned the favor a million times harder. And those were just a couple of the highlights of what we saw play out during this matchup, but the reason why it was so good was it was hot,
there was a sense of energy of urgency and it was absolutely brutal. Now there's a couple of things that I wanna say in regards to this also. One, we need to see them run this match back. I don't know when, I don't know how, but they need to run it back, please. Please hear my prayer, I'm sending this out. Run back Rooosh versus Darby Allen. Now the other thing that I wanna say is can we please stop? Having Rooosh not appear that often on Dynamite, I'm sorry, but this man has more freaking charisma and is one finger than most people walking this dang planet. Obviously I'm exaggerating, but I'm just trying to paint the fact that Rooosh comes across as a guy that is hella charismatic, a scary guy, he doesn't look like he's pretending to be a wrestler. No, you come across Rooosh on the streets, I pretty much guarantee that no one is gonna wanna mess
with him because he has that kind of aura. He has the don't mess around because I will take things further and I will handle my business. And I love that about Rooosh, he's so charismatic, he's so believable when he's in there. I really want to see AW put more investment in Rooosh. Now I know some of you guys are probably saying, well Denise you're probably just saying that because you're really excited off of what you just saw with Darby, well I'm gonna stop you right there because I swear, I say this every time I see Rooosh on dynamite every single time. And that's what bothers me too by the way, is that every time I wanna see more of Rooosh on the show and I feel like I get 50 minute monologues, that's too wide. And then we just don't see him that much on the show. I'm sorry, but Rooosh should be a top guy on AEW. He should be in there mixing it up with Hangman page, Kyle Fletcher, Swarth Strickland, Kenny Omega, MJF, Andrade,
all of those guys, we should be seeing Rooosh in that picture because he commands a certain attention and presents himself a certain way. And coming off of Darby and Andrade and Rooosh in this match, I'm just like damn, that was good. Now that's the Rooosh side of things. I want to get into the Darby side of things because Darby is the person that I think we know, you know, I guess the best way to say it is if you think of the heart and soul of AEW, that might actually be Darby Allen. I don't know how else to put it, guys. I'm gonna have to steal that from Tommy, but he is the heart and soul of AEW. Dude loves AEW, he lives for AEW and he brings so much genuine entertainment to the fans, to the people. He is in my top five favorites AEW wrestlers. And let me tell you, that list is very, very hard to beat because I love, love, love the best. And so Darby, Darby is somebody that because he is the heart
and soul of AEW, people have been wondering, when is this man gonna become a W world champion? Is he ever going to get that opportunity? Did his time pass him by? Did AEW miss the mark? Did it? And all of these questions, right? We've thrown them out there, we've wondered. But, and I kind of worried, I kind of worried that Darby, that they might have missed out on the perfect opportunity to make a May W world champion. And I'm not gonna lie, I did worry for a second. I second guest myself, I wondered if that was still on the table. Coming off of this match and coming off the fact that the man doesn't have that matches and genuinely entertains people, I am now thinking that that has definitely the opportunity has not passed by yet. Consider the ship still docked, this man, the ship has not sailed, this man is still in the running to someday be a W world champion. Now, I get it guys, we have a long list of potential champions and of course, we'll get into the championship picture in a moment,
but just to highlight, we just had Kenny Omega, we'll talk more about that in a second, but we also have the potential of Will Osprey being champion. There's a lot of people is what I'm saying that are kind of feel like they're in line and that their time might come sooner for another shot at the AW world championship or a first time shot like Will Osprey. But I would also add Darby Ellen to that list. I actually think he might be closer than ever now. And that's really only coming off of like two weeks man because it was last week that he had even said that he was wanting to go back to that championship or wanting a shot at that title where he addressed MJF after his brutal casket match with Gabe Kid, really fun matchup too. But then now him, main event he once again, dynamite in this matchup that left people really excited. I feel like it's putting Darby back up there because I felt like for a while, they weren't really booking Darby in a way where you thought he was gonna go
for the AW world championship. And now ever since that has been recognized, I'm starting to notice a slight change in how they're presenting Darby Ellen and what he's doing on the show. And I feel like the last few weeks have really nodded out of the park especially today because we're coming on this show. And what are we talking about? The first thing we are talking about is this main event. And that to me is a sign that one, I was freaking entertained. And two, that both of these men did a good job. And I'm a true believer that whenever you have people go out there and knock it out of the park and do a fantastic job, you wanna see those people rewarded. And to me, what I also love about Darby and what I also love about Rouge, is that they're not your conventional prototypical wrestlers. However you wanna see that, they're exciting, they're fresh, they're different. And they each got something very different in them, but something that I think the fans enjoy and may want to see more of.
So there you have it guys, Darby, Ellen, Rouge, freaking killed it in that main event. Coming up next, we break down what the AW world championship picture looks like as we make our way to AW dynasty. Your one stop shop for R.A.S.S.L.I. and that's wrestling. Pro wrestling nation, 24-7, channel 156. MJF, Kenny Omega, Swarth Strickland, all of these people are involved in this title picture, but let's break down what went down. So first and foremost, Swarth Strickland and Kenny Omega opened up the show today and I thought, oh nice, because I thought this was going to be the main event, but it being the opening match actually turned out to be a lot better one because I feel like you get more of a chance of having more time. For example, our main event started a minute before the show was technically supposed to add, but you guys know how we do.
We get a bunch of over runs now, so thankfully that worked out, but we wanted to see that Swarth and Kenny got just as much as time as possible. Now what I personally loved about this match was two things. One, the frickin V triggers that Kenny Omega gave Swarth Strickland, he got him in the front, he got him in the back, I don't even know how many he hit. He definitely hit more than five V triggers, I think, and I mean, one V trigger is enough to maybe pass out and spit out your guts. So the fact that Swarth Strickland took as many as he did was absolutely bonkers. That was appealing in this matchup. The second thing that was appealing was that I went into this going, oh yeah, Kenny Omega, he's totally winning, right? Like we're getting one step closer to Kenny Omega versus Will Osprey at all length because I think that's the match that most people are expecting. So we're trying to see them pave the road and how we're going to get there. So in my mind, I kept thinking, yeah, Kenny Omega is taking this all the way.
However, there were a couple of near falls, I would say like maybe three or four, where Swarth went for the cover and we got super close to that three count, three times at least. And Kenny Omega found a way to kick out and that was very enjoyable to see because it made me bite, it made me think that my prediction was wrong. And of course it wasn't Kenny Omega got the win and afterwards confronted MJF. Now I did have like a pro and a con to this. So I'll start with the con. I do want to see maybe Kenny Omega try out some, how do I say this? I want Kenny Omega to really state his purpose. Like why do you want the AW world championship? I think that is the part that is kind of missing in his promo because I feel like for the most part, a lot of what he said today, I've kind of already heard in other promos. And so I guess what I want from Kenny
is I really want him to state his why. That was my only con. Now my pro of this is, we need to talk about the visuals. Hey, if there's any graphic designers out there or any artist, I know your brain was seen visuals when they painted the picture of, hey, we're going to have the wrestling God versus the devil. As we all know, that's what MJF refers to himself as is the devil. So we're going to have the God, God, excuse me, not the God, God versus the devil. And instantly my mind started flashing all of these potential graphics and cool imagery that we can get to build this match up. And I just thought, oh man, that is so freaking cool. So that was my pro and my con of this segment. And next week, I believe they said, we're getting a contract signing. So I definitely want to see Kenny really honed in, really tell us why, why do you want this championship again,
Kenny, why do you need this championship again? Maybe he could even tie this to his personal life and struggles that he went through. We all know that unfortunately Kenny Omega you know, went through a really hard battle with diverticulitis. And you know, that's a moment, that's true, that's true. That's real life stuff, man. He's something, you know, it could have been far worse for Kenny. Thankfully, it wasn't. But hey man, maybe tie that into the story. Talk about how you questioned if you'd ever be, you know, in the ring again, and you questioned if you'd ever have the feeling of being a world champion again, you questioned if you felt you'd ever be that wrestling God again and get to perform in front of the people. That to me is what I want to see Kenny pull out more in the promo, hopefully next week. And I just want to see MJF be an A hole because that's what MJF does best. It is very entertaining. So that's what I hope we get out of the contract signing next week. But I think right now I'm still under the impression that Kenny Omega might defeat MJF at dynasty
and hopefully maybe get a brief little run, you know, however long we have from dynasty to all in and maybe have a Darby versus, I'm sorry, not Darby, Kenny versus, you know, Will Osprey because I think that's what a lot of people want to see. However, I also would not mind it if we saw MJF versus Will Osprey because I think that MJF would be a really, would be a really, really great heel to Will Osprey if they had that match at all in, whereas like Kenny, he's not going to really feel like a heel. Like people love and respect Kenny, but we all know that's, that's hopefully Will's moment because we've been waiting for that one. Let me tell you, MJF and Will Osprey, they had that one hour match on a dynamite, then they had their match at all in and that was pretty good actually. I was pretty locked in on that and we haven't seen that since then. So this technically would not be a new match, especially for all in, it would not be a new match up. They could always do something where, you know, obviously they can have a totally different kind of a match.
It doesn't, you know, it'll totally be different from what they've done in the past and they do do a one-on-one. You mentioned a fatal four-way. And I like the ways that you mentioned in which some people could get into the fatal four-way. I'm going to be real with you. I'm more of a person who wants to see that one-on-one matchup, especially at all in. And if it is Will Osprey's moment, I really want to see him win that title in a one-on-one. I don't know, I'm not like, I wouldn't be upset if they did a fatal four-way or a triple-threat or something like that, but for whatever reason, I don't know, maybe it's just like a crazy little thing of mine. But I always just feel like a one-on-one match. It's harder. It feels more meaningful because it's like this very, very personal beef, maybe between two people that just goes really, really far. Now, of course, if you do have a triple-threat or a fatal four-way, the dynamics of that matchup will be really, really fun. But I do prefer always the one-on-one.
So again, if they do do MJF and Will Osprey, MJF will be a fantastic heal for that. But again, I think there's a better chance that they're gonna do Kenny Omega and Will Osprey because I think that feels more like the dream matchup at Wembley. That feels like the fans are gonna be like, wow, we're really getting to see two of the greatest wrestlers that have ever walked this planet and seen them against each other at such a big stage in an iconic venue like this. I think there's a lot of meaning behind that and that's why that would also be tremendous. So I feel like those are really the top two options right now. But also, since we're on the topic of Will Osprey, Will Osprey's been back since Revolution made a awesome return. And damn, I gotta tell you, I've been really enjoying this new version of Will Osprey because have you noticed that Will isn't necessarily
being too happy, he's not. He's not the, hey, I'm the bruv guy that's gonna go out there and have five star matches every day. Of course, he's still gonna have those amazing matches, not saying that, but he doesn't have that lighthearted vibe right now. He's angry, he's mad at what went down with John Moxley with the deaf riders and he's pissed about everything he had to overcome with his neck and the surgery and how that changed up. And you don't need to hear me say it. Let's roll the audio of Will Osprey's promo. John, you had to put me in a time out. That's your funny language, mate. That's the same type of language I use
on my seven-year-old when he's been naughty. So you must be hanging around with your kid. I have as well. And for the latter part of this time out, I owe you a bit of a thank you. So I've got to have that bonding time with my son. But no matter how much I have for you, no matter gratitude, I have for you. It's ever gonna replace the fear, the fear that my son had to see. You may have your reasons or why you snapped my neck in front of my countrymen, in front of my friends, in front of my misses, in front of my kid, in front of my mum, for that image along, for that fear. I am gonna alter your life just like you done mine. John, I want you a dynasty, you motherf***. Oh my God, that was so good. Okay, so you believe me now, right? I had just said that Will Ospreay is different. He's angry, he's mad. Will Ospreay understands the assignment
because that is exactly what he should be after everything that he has been through. Well, guess what? They have officially made it official. Officially made it official. That we are gonna be seeing John Moxley versus Will Ospreay at Dynasty. And now, you need to hear it here. You need to hear it here first. I am so excited to see Will Ospreay beat that ass. Take out John Moxley, goodbye. Sayonara Will Ospreay is freaking back. He is gonna defeat John Moxley and he is gonna start making his way over to all in because that man needs to win the AW World Championship at all. Lynn, I cannot be more excited for what I hope will be a fantastic run for Will Ospreay. He's been gone for a minute. Actually, he was for next surgery. I would have thought Will Ospreay would have been gone a lot longer, but he didn't. He came back a couple months later and he's good to go. He's ready. He's got it. But right now, I think that one person that has really
stepped up and I've talked about this before, is Kyle Fletcher. Kyle Fletcher has stepped up a whole lot. He's one of the best people that you're seeing on AEW right now. Well, I know Will loves Kyle Fletcher. I know all that, but Will Ospreay needs to come back and remind people who he is, what he does, and what he's all about. And that's something that I really, really look forward to. So I'm excited for Dynasty because I know that it's gonna be the start of Will Ospreay, heading to that AW World Championship. So I'm so freaking ready for this. I could not be happier about that. Anyways, we're gonna, oh, how can I forget? I gotta talk about a match that was made for next week. Now, if you're just hearing it right now, they are gonna do Will Ospreay versus, hold on a second. You're not ready for it. I swear, you're not ready for it. PAK. Ah, I know.
Will Ospreay versus PAK. We've seen these two guys go at it before, and it was tremendous. Actually, I think I was in the building for that when they did do PAK versus Will Ospreay. It was one of those matches that, if I remember correctly, I think the people gave it a standing ovation before the match even started. I think, I'm trying to remember right now because it's all a blur, but I just remembered that that match was extraordinary. These two guys extraordinary. So the fact that we're gonna see this match for free next week on AW Dynamite, I'm gonna be living large next week, everybody. Catch the full three hours of busted open every day of the week at 9 a.m. Eastern on Pro Wrestling Nation 24-7, channel 156.
