Blake Fielder-Civil on Amy Winehouse's Addiction

Blake Field or Civil, the ex-husband of singer Amy Winehouse, spoke openly on a podcast this week about his role in her addiction struggles. The pair were married from 2007 to 2009, and Amy died at age 27 in July 2011 from accidental alcohol. Poisoning. Blake admitted he played a part but stressed that Amy made her own choices despite the harm from drinking and drugs. During their time together, Blake said he tried to control how much drugs they used, telling her when enough was enough. He was not her main supplier though, and while he served time in jail for bar fight, her dealer remained a constant in her life. Their habits stemmed from trying to manage withdrawals and feel normal. After Blake got out of rehab and filed for divorce, their contact continued on and off. Amy even offered to help him stay sober when he relapsed after linking up with someone from treatment. They did not see themselves as full-blown addicts at the time, just coping day-to-day.
