Birmingham Urban Oasis Park for Homeless on Hold

Birmingham City leaders recently approved buying a lot off-first avenue north to build an urban oasis park for the homeless. The space was set to include a dog run, storage lockers, restrooms, and links to support services. After talks with the property owner and nearby business owners, officials changed course. On Monday, March 2nd, they announced the project is now paused. The city plans to find a new spot before moving forward with the park.
