Birmingham's Arts & Culture: A Global Pride

0:00On March 11, new research from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra shows that 92% of adults in and around Birmingham see arts, and culture as a core part of what puts the city on the national and global map. Residents don't view it as just a bonus, but as essential to the city's identity. Music stands out as a major source of pride, with about a third of people highlighting iconic rock bands, top orchestras and concert halls, theater, and ballet, plus vibrant festivals, art galleries and museums top the list at 41%, while the city's football teams came in close at 39%. This pride runs deep across different groups, from ages 25 to 65, where at least one in four pointed to orchestras as a global. Strength Women lean toward galleries and theater, men toward football and rock, but overall a unites people from all backgrounds and faiths.
