It's September 1st. Welcome in. This is NFL News Today, where the league meets AI. I'm Cory with the story. Alright, let's talk Buffalo Bills. The team hit the practice field Tuesday and some key players are looking good to go. We saw six guys back in action, including wide receiver Keon Coleman, linebackers, Tarell Bernard and Joe Andreson, center Connor McGovern defensive, Lyman Ed Oliver, and defensive back CJ Gardner Johnson. That's a solid group making their return. Now it wasn't all sunshine and roses. Wide receiver Khalil Shakir, running back Tye Johnson, and defensive backstored in Hancock and Jalon Kilgore, along with defensive end Javan Solomon, were participating in the main practice. However, they were present, which is something. General manager Brennan Bean mentioned that CJ. Gardner Johnson's situation is a bit more complex than initially thought, and he's not ready to commit to him being back for week one just yet. He did say Gardner Johnson is improving, and they'll have a clearer picture next week.
So his return to practice is definitely a positive sign, but we'll have to wait and see for the official word on week one. On the flip side, even though they weren't practicing, Tye Johnson and Khalil Shakir were seen doing some work on the side. That's good news, especially for Shakir, who's been sideline for a while. His injury status remains a bit of a mystery since the team doesn't have to release an official report until game week, but he's a crucial target for. Josh Allen. The good news on the receiver front is that Keon Coleman is back, and Ricky Skyler-Bell is also healthy. Bell actually looks sharp in the preseason finale, leading the team in catches and yardage. With Coleman and Shakir expected to be top targets, Bell has a real shot to step up and claim that number three, receiver spot.
