Billie Eilish to Star in Sylvia Plath's The Bell Jar

The singer, Fresh Off 2 Oscar wins for music and Barbie at no time to die, is in talks to star and Sarah Polly's adaptation of Sylvia Platt's novel. The Beljar, Polly, who earned an Oscar for Best Adaptive Screenplay on our last film, Women Talking in 2022, is directing this one too. Producers include Joy Gorman-Weddles, Plan B Entertainment, and Studio Canal with focus features handling distribution. Eilish already has some acting credits under her belt. She appeared in the Prime Video series, Swarm, and picked up a People's Choice award for her performance, plus a nod at the Independent Spirit Awards. The Beljar is Platt's only novel, a semi-autobiographical story about a young woman's mental breakdown during a New York magazine internship. It mirrors Platt's own battles with depression before her death in 1963.
