Today, we're here with a little fun episode with my co-host Paul and Brian and I am Kathleen. Before we get into that, we're going to talk a lot of friendship coming up. Today, of course, will be the best friendships throughout television. Exactly. So we kind of can go rogue here. There's not too many rules. So I'm going to let anything fly here, not that I'm really the willkeeper, but I'm going to throw it to Brian first. Who you got as your absolute favorite friendships on TV? Well, I wouldn't praise it like that. My absolute favorite friendships on TV. I just know worthy friendships are the best friendships on TV. And I don't know. I guess this is one of my favorite. Oh, look at me. I'm rambling. But I told you before we got on, this was going to probably be the most obvious of my selections. And it's because it comes from a show that I think

2:09most everybody has seen at this point, friends. It's going to be Chandler Bing and Joey Tribiani. I mean, in a show called Friends, this is the bromance, the friendship that sticks out among the rest. I think just kind of their inside jokes, the tip for tat that they have. Chandler Bing is just a hilarious character, how dry his delivery is, how sarcastic he is, playing off just the goofy. I guess he would classify him as somewhat as a womanizer, but he's so much more wholesome than let's say a Barney Stinson-esque womanizer. I just think those are hilarious. And Friends is known for just their kind of running gags or inside jokes. And these two are at the crux of a lot of them. And Friends, for me, I've always held it a tear below the esteem that a lot of people consider it because I don't think it has like full out bust out laughing moments. I think it's one of those shows where every episode you're going to breathe heavily out your nose, but you'll never find yourself laughing out loud. But these two, I find myself, when I am laughing, it's usually

3:14around one of these two. And when they're in the same scene together, it's usually money. I mean, they share an apartment right across the hall from the girls' apartment, which is probably top two apartments in television. I would say the girls' apartment, one and two, that in the drink, Josh bedroom. But no, my first friendship is going Chandler Bing and Joey Tribiani. Joey doesn't share food. I'm going to throw Hey Arnold's room in there as well, as good apartments are. That's a good submission. I have grown to love friends. That has been on our rotation of TV shows lately. And as I've gotten older, I've actually laughed harder at it, which makes sense because they're a little bit older now. So I get what you're saying though, not the best moments, but I find myself cracking up a bunch and what you're saying, Joey and Chandler are just two good together. They're just iconic. But good choice. Jumping over to my pick, the show is a

4:22binge-down classic. It almost formed the podcast because we talked about it so much. And this is going to be the magicians. So if nobody has heard of the magicians, it is like Hogwarts, except for college, where people are using magic for drugs and sex and partying and pranks and their own pleasure. And then there's whole other fantasy world filery that's in it too. And two of the characters that we meet early on, not the main characters, but their main stays. And that's going to be Elliott and Margo. And when we first meet them, they are just these upper-classmen in filery. I'm sorry, not filery. Oh my god, I can't break bills. Break bills is the name of the school. And they are just the cool upper-classmen who know everything and know everybody. But we quickly learn to love them. And they fight through so much together. They save the world together without too many spoilers, you know, permanence and the waking up from sleep scene was

5:28one of the best friendship things ever. Making sacrifices for each other and being hysterical the entire time. They have a conversation with just pop culture references and they understand exactly what they're talking about. Just countless times of just incredible friendship that is just shown by minimal conversation, but knowing exactly what the other person wants to do. They speak their own language. And I would say for a sci-fi show and for a pretty serious show at times, Margo and Elliott are two of the funniest characters you could have on a show separately. And then when you put them together, it's electric. And they really love each other in real life. And you could tell their chemistry on screen just pops. And I'm glad you did that because that was that's on my list. But I wasn't... I don't know. I was like toying with weather to say it or not. So I'm glad I'm glad you pitched that. I think everybody can relate to that. Having your own like language with your best friend or something. Even when you're in a crowded room, you say something

6:30that goes over everybody else's head and they know exactly what you're talking about. I was a good thing to bring up. I love that pairing pull. Nice pull. Love them. Okay. There goes. Here's mine. Mine is a so classic for me. I feel like I've been bringing up Grey's Anatomy so much on this podcast leak recently with like any fun episode we've been doing. But Meredith Gray and Christina Yang played by Ellen Pompeo and Sandra. Oh, the greatest show of all time, Grey's Anatomy. These two go through absolute hell together in this damn hospital. And they most definitely have their ups and downs. They just get into some some dark holes. They are the twisted sisters is what they call themselves. And they're a little tough. Sometimes with they understand each other, whereas nobody else can get into their dark minds almost. And people think the main love story in Grey's Anatomy is between Meredith and McDreamy. And they are absolutely mistaken. The main

7:30love story is Meredith and Christina for sure. Even Ellen Pompeo has said that I think Shonda rhymes with the creator has said that it is just the greatest relationship ever. They're each others person. It's perfect. It's all perfectly summed up in the season 10 finale, which is actually when Christina exits the show, which is 11 seasons ago, which is crazy. I guess 10, yeah, 11 seasons ago. So Christina Yang has officially been off the show longer than she was on the show, which is crazy. Same with George and you know, Cap and Hygol as Izzy and all these people who you when you think of Grey as you think of these people, if you've if you watched the beginning and don't watch now, there's been so many more seasons with so many more characters that have been on. But these two remain the heart of the show. They are just perfection together. And I'm obsessed with them. And that's why you watch Grey's Anatomy for those two. At least that's why I watch it. That show is still like running, right? Boy is it. Boy is it. What's staying power that show has?

8:31I got a respected. I've maybe seen like three episodes the whole time. But everybody knows, I mean Meredith and Christina, I was 99.9% sure we were not doing this episode without that friendship. Get to pass you Kathleen. Have you see this is a side tangent? Have you seen Sandra O is the actress's name, right? Yeah, Sandra O. Is she in that show killing Eve? She is on half of that with Joe DiComer yet. Have you seen that show? Yeah, so. Oh, it's much good things about it. So Phoebe Waller Bridge created that show and Phoebe Waller Bridge is the star and creator of Fleabag, which is an amazing show. If you haven't seen it, it's only 12 episodes, 20 minute episodes, like so easy. But she created killing Eve. So season one was incredible. And then she left the show. So it kind of goes off the rails a little bit. But season one is as strong as ever as a show you're going to get. And then by the series finale, I was like, what planet are we on? But I've watched it all the way through and I really loved it

9:33all the way through. It's just like, wasn't it strong as season one? Maybe not. But Sandra O is one of my, if I had a Mount Rushmore like we always do of actors or actresses, Sandra O is on there for sure. She is a beast of an actress. She is, she kills it. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I have dipped my toes in all the shows that you just mentioned because Emily crushes those types of shows. So I've seen bits of Fleabag, I've seen bits of killing me. And I had Christina and Meredith on my list just off of reputation alone. I mean, their iconic together is Emily agrees anatomy girl. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Um, she has her ups and downs. She'll, she'll be like, I'm not going to watch this new season. Yeah. And then she watches it. And she's like, I liked it a little bit. Obviously, it's not the same. But then the rewatch comes and then and I do the, I do the classic. Oh, you're watching Grace as a half into the room, but then I'll sit down on the couch and then I'll start asking questions. And I'm like, wait, wasn't two seasons ago. She banging him

10:36and he was away and she, she has to like pause it and explain everything because so much happens in that going along that tangent of just watching the quote, girly show sitting down on the couch and then getting invested. Emily's been rewatching gossip girl and I just like hunkered down. I'm like, oh, wait, what's Chuck up to? What's going on here? What's what it's doing to do this time? It's like so, it's like a tractor beam. It's just like so addicting. I walked in today. It came home from work. She had gossip girl on. She's like, oh, I'm restarting my rewatch. And I was like, oh, my God, that is the deep. Yeah, absolutely. And it's also penned Badgley from you. I was like, oh, my gosh, this show had all of them crazy. This is crazy because I just started you, not for the first time. I watched, I watched you when it was on lifetime or whatever episode by episode five episodes and I quick. Cause I was like, I don't think I dig this show. And then everyone was obsessed with it. So two days ago, I restarted you and I watched two episodes and I texted Luke of

11:38binge on TV fame. And I said, it's just actually worth it because after two episodes, I'm still not into and he was like, nah, I was like, I don't know. So I decided that gossip girl was going to be my next show. What are the odds of this? Look at us. Have you never seen gossip girl? I've seen it once like 10 years ago. So it's been a while. I need I need a good rewatch. I watched it my first year of being in in the workforce of 2015, probably. So a decade. Okay. Emily said when I sat down and was just like asking her questions, she was like, yeah, it's kind of a red flag if you come across a girl who hasn't seen gossip girl and was like alive for that because it was a CW show, right? Yeah, it should have been everybody loved gossip girl. Every girl loved gossip girl. It was like a thing. It had a moment. And I mean, the deep and badgley, Blake Lively's doing okay. 12 months and but and hopefully I'm not stealing it from anybody, but that should be an honorable mention Blair and Serena. That's a little toxic stuff. That's funny because I have as some

12:42honorable mention, some toxic like one tree hill, broken patent, things like that where it's like it's good friendship. But boy, is it is it toxic? So I was like, wait, they're best friends. They like hate each other. That was a train of thought coming from Christina and Meredith Gray. So are you doubling up on the snake round then for Kathleen? Do you have another friendship? Oh, am I doubling down? Okay. This is something that me and Alex are watching. And this is a show I've seen multiple times and it's a deep cut. I don't even know if you guys would have heard of this show. But I was watching it for the first time and it's called the bull type. And it's Jane Cat and Sutton. It's three best friends. And they work at a fashion mag in New York scene called New York, whoa, New York City called Scarlet. And they are just like the cutest best friends. And they get into some really deep topics and some like sexier situations than you really would think for a

13:45freeform show. But it's some of the best female friendship on television I've ever seen. Like my smile is so big watching them. They're like goofy. Their inside jokes are accurate and not like corny. It's not I feel like you watch a lot of these and they're like female friendship shows. And they're a little misguided. This is like the best I've seen portrayed in like a 20-somethings young 20-somethings in New York. I'm trying to make the way in a corporate situation. It's really cute. It's five seasons on freeform. And I started watching it in the pandemic when I think only three seasons were out. So I caught up on on four and five. But it's glorious. It is just the definition of female empowerment and friendship. I'm not necessarily recommending it to either of you but maybe your girlfriend slash fiancees would enjoy it. But it's really great. And Alex is loving it. And I was like I was a scared to offer it. You know, when you make a suggestion to someone,

14:47especially someone you love so much and being scared to be like, I hope they like it. They've been like, yeah. Like I love this so much. I hope they like it. And she's nailed it with every show she loved why known us. She loved the magician. She loves the bold times. So I have to be really careful about what I put in front of her. I've been like scared to give her the hundred or like scared. You know, like, oh yeah. Well, it's the classic. You show someone a video on YouTube that's like four minutes long. You're like, this is the funniest video I've ever seen in 30 seconds in no laughter. You're like, oh my gosh, the pressure is on. Yeah. Now I totally got that. Remind me what's the name of the show? The bold type. The BLD. The bold type. Yeah. Gotcha. Okay. Now I will definitely pass that along to to my Emily. I think that's right up her alley. How do you like find these shows? Do you just like comb through free form? And you're like, I could probably go for that. This one was recommended to me. And I was shocked to like it. It was during COVID where I'm like, I'll pretty much click anything. It is just pure good vibes. But they really do get into

15:51some deep topics that you wouldn't think. And they're like half of them are writers. So they're like writers at this at and and reporters for Scarlett and other people are in fashion and other people are in the social media and get into more politics and stuff. So it's pretty damn good for free form show. It's one of those ones where, you know, we love all the CW shows and some people would call that it. But I like a free form show. You got to keep your stamp of approval good, right? Because if you recommend something then they're not going to want to, you're not going to trust the next recommendation. I say that because my next pick there is in the show there's a whole episode about stamp of approvals. So I'm going to be picking from how I met your mother. I knew that was coming. And it's going to be the classic Ted Marshall and Barney. I couldn't pick just two, the three of them together, their brothers. It should have been my one, my number one pick, but I wanted a solid two double friendship for the first pick. And Margo and Elliott were just perfect. So this one, this one is friendship from being college roommates to living together to this third guy coming in and being the most

18:58disgusting, crude individual in the world, but somehow the best friend in the world that would fly across the country just to get your ex-girlfriend back and never tell you about it. They have ongoing jokes that are just phenomenal. We were talking about you having a conversation with somebody and making a reference and the other person getting it. They have just so many ongoing jokes. For one, did you know she was a cop? That just comes to my head. I don't know why. That was from the later episodes when they just are referencing all these old drinking shows. They referenced Star Wars. Yeah, exactly. If you don't trill it up once every five years, the Empire wins. Is it every three years? Every three years. Yeah, I think three years. Too many good instances to recall them all. I mean, literally, jellers, wingmen helping each other out, nonstop. No questions asked all the time. These are all references from the TV show. So if you've watched it, totally,

19:59you get it. You understand. And yeah, I just love them. I have in parentheses, Lily and Robin, because they are very good friends as well. But I think the real friendship is the three guys here. I think there's something so perfect in the formula of friends, how I met your mother where they're always at one apartment, right? They're either at the bar or they're at the apartment. And you kind of, it's like the idea that everyone's congregating at the same place all the time, you have these routines and everything. I just feel so homey and you wish you could have that. You watch friends growing up or how I met your mother growing up. You're like, wow, I wish I can live across the hall from my friends. It's the best thing I could ever think of and or be roommates or whatever it is. And so it's undeniable. I just watched it during COVID for the first time. And I agree with you, Paul. It's a great choice. I was waiting for that. I couldn't believe that was in your first choice, but I knew it was coming. Ted and Marshall is the best friendship amongst the three though. I'm surprised you lumped all three of them together, not going

21:01to lie. I just, I love Barney so much. And like Barney said, that's never been proven that Ted is Marshall's best friend or vice versa. It's up in the air for the bait, but I would agree that they were the roommates. They were the college roommates together. They were the actual roommates together afterwards. So I could see that. But I'm going to throw Barney in there because he got hit by a bus for my boy, Ted, run into the hospital. That he was the one. Sorry, sorry to cut you off. No, you got any was the one to fly to California to get lily back season one spoiler. I don't know if that is going to affect anybody watching the show. It's like, well, I 20 years old now, which is crazy to think about. Why is it why the classics so good friends? How many of your mother gossip girl that we were just talking about? They're all old, but they're all just crowded. How did how I met your father not succeed? We should be in season seven of that show. I'm kidding. I agree. They don't make shows like they used to. They really don't.

22:04What is like the most popular sitcom on right now? My blanking? Are there any like juggernauts, like the office or friends ask? Big bang was like the last biggest one I feel like. Yeah. Goldbergs was like kind of a big one that went for a while. I know I'm just trying to think of the like the cable sitcom is not what it used to. It's like Tim Allen is on a rotation of like whatever pilot they write and sign Tim Allen on. They're like, all right, this will go. Now he's on one with like cat dendings, which I'm shocked by because I feel like she could have gone the complete opposite way and went to like prestige TV or like movies or something. And Sean William, yeah, too. And I like all three of them individually. You couldn't pay me to watch that show. You could probably pay if someone wants to pay me to watch that show. I won't do it. But it's just like, eh, it's not doing it for me. The writers or showrunners of the office, I forget the guy's name, but I think they started a medical like the same stick that takes place in a hospital. And I'm

23:10looking at the trailers. I'm like, looks a little forced. It looks like they're trying to fit the mobs. And it's just not going to be the same Greg Daniels or sure is the last name I think. Sure. I think sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Where's the parks and racks? Where's the, you know, stuff. New girls. NBC had the office running into parks and rec for like five years. I know. And it's like, oh my goodness. How did they just catch lightning in a bottle like that? Same. But the same producers just cranking out fabulous TV in the perfect time frame. Because you could still get away with stuff. If the office aired there for season right now, it would flop so hard. And they couldn't, you know, like diversity day would just never be an episode. You just couldn't do that right now on these days. So yeah, it was lightning in a bottle at the exact perfect time. You know, I will say, and I forgot this when we were talking about it. Always sunny is still ongoing. And Mindy Kayley said, oh, we couldn't do the office in today's

24:13day and age. And everybody was just like, have you seen a singular episode of always sunny? Like their average episode is way over the line that the office set for itself. So like, true, but always sunny isn't it's like 20 of season. So it's set the precedent. It's, it's legacy. It's grandfathered in to be able to do a savagery kind of like family guy, right? Like family guy can still be savage because it always was savage. Yeah. But like to start something savage now, you would have to do that on a streaming site. You can't do that on ABC NBC, etc. You know, that's a good point. And another one just clicked in my head. Have you guys ever seen Abbott Elementary? That's a good one. That's like a big one right now. That's probably the most popular one currently I can think of. That's pretty good. I'm actually going through that right now like late in season two. It's that's a good one. All right, Brian, what you got? All right. It's over to me. And I guess I got too straight. Okay. We're going to start titular characters adventure time with Finn and Jake. I am bringing in the animated series

25:17into this discussion. And I think this is maybe, well, I love the characters. I love them individually. I love them together. But oh my gosh, I just rewatched Adventure Time with Emily. She wound up loving it, which was another one. Not sure how she's going to receive it. Adventure Time, if you haven't watched it, is one of the most hilarious shows I've ever seen. It's so wholesome in childish, but at the same time, it's so intelligently written, but it revolves around Finn, the magical dog with stretching powers. And Jake, oh my gosh, I'm sorry, Jake, the magical dog with stretching powers and Finn, the human in this, I don't even know, magical world. You find out it's like post apocalyptic. It's a really cool show. But these two together, Jake is like this adult dog who has this scruffy man's voice. He's actually voiced by the same voice actor that didn't mark his Phoenix from Gears 4. Was that his name? Yeah. So this dog is like his adult

26:21guardian, if you will, but he's also wildly immature and childish in his own right. And Finn is this impenetrable hero. He is a righteous white knight, if you will. But he's also just this human boy with a sword and the show is called Adventure Time. These two just get sent off into this magical world of ew and they're having adventures with each other. And all the while they're cracking jokes, it's like a weird brand of comedy that they have. Something that's come into my own vernacular. They don't say, oh my god, they say, oh my glob. And now I never say, oh my god anymore. I say, oh my glob. And they don't, they don't like exclaim at things and be like, oh, I'm so surprised to go algebraic mathematical. It's just like so out there. But it all revolves around these two, Finn and Jake. And I mean, the show is so good because at its core, it's a boy and his friendship with his dog who's like weirdly an adult, but also just as immature as him.

27:23And it just all works so well. Paul, have you watched Adventure Times start to finish? Not start to finish, but I got all the way through up to like two seasons, I think. And I've seen plenty of episodes beyond that, just not in chronological order. But I have even had quotes from that show in my daily vernacular, like you're saying too, like what the math, like out of nowhere, making bacon pancakes, obviously that song. And then I'm a buff baby. I can dance like, oh man, like there's so many like songs and little jingles and references that are so funny. And they are just bros because they literally every episode will be like, oh man, Jake's like, I have to do this. And Finn's like, well, all right, well, I'm going. Or vice versa, you know, Finn's got to do something, Jake's like, all right, I'm there to help. Or they're just going to venture together because they're bros. And their treehouse is another room that I want to live in. I grew up watching and I'm like, God, how does that board? I've never seen it. How many seasons, like how long

28:24of the episodes I assume like 20 minutes? The episodes, I think the format is they have a half hour TV slot that is split between two episodes. So they're probably like two 12 minute episodes with one television slot. So you can rip episodes very, very quickly. The format of seasons, I think they probably had like 10 or 11 seasons, but it's one of those weird ones where season one and two were like maybe 15 episodes. And then seasons three and four were randomly like 60 episodes. And then they became like shorter seasons. It's the nature of having like 12 minutes per episode, but it's, oh, I would recommend it to anybody because it starts out kind of as I was describing, just like a stupid show that's very intelligently written. And they have these inside jokes that will always make you laugh throughout the longevity of it. And then for the final three or four seasons, it kind of evolves into something very different that you wouldn't have expected given how the show

29:26started where they kind of have season long, I guess bad guys that they have to tackle and season long narratives. And they start digging into the lore. And it becomes like a little bit more, it's never an adult show, but the themes are a little bit more adult and grown up. And you're like, oh, wow, that's pretty crazy that they went this entirely different direction with the show. Like I said, I threw it to Emily on a chance like, oh, I really hope she likes this show. That might have been like the funniest show we've ever watched together. She was grinding it when I wasn't even watching with her. She loved it. And I think that's a testament. I would recommend that to anybody who is not opposed to watching an animated series. I thank for a lot of people. That's just, nope, I don't do animation. I won't have that argument. But if you do, adventure time is one of the ones that you should watch. And my last thing is that that branched off into about five or six different shows for Cartoon Network, like the amazing world of Gumball

30:32regular show, I think is the one with the Blue Jay and the Raccoon. Like four of the people who worked with the Guy Pendleton Ward on Adventure Time, it was so successful they got their own shows, which also became successful. So it kind of like developed the entire stick of what Cartoon Network was for that whole like decade or so. I did not know that all those shows were by like the same creators or at least I all had a hand in Adventure Time. That's awesome. Yeah, it wasn't all the same guy, but it's kind of like an NFL coaching tree. Like the offensive coordinators, the KM head coaches had their own. Yeah, it's like, love it. So Fin and Jake was my second one. And since I am at the end of the snake draft, I get to go again. And probably my number one submission would be Turk and JD, Dr. Chris Turk and John Dorian from one of my all-time favorite shows, Scrubs. And I'll compare it to Christina and Meredith from Grey's Anatomy. I think something about

31:33the trauma of going through med school together and then going through the trials and tribulations of a hospital. Trauma bonding is a very real thing, but the stick of these two characters, they start as interns year one at this hospital sacred heart. And their backstory is that they were roommates all through med school. Chris Turk is kind of like the jock very social good at basketball surgeon and the split between surgeons and medical doctors is always like surgeons are kind of the jocks of the medical field. And then there's John Dorian who is this dorky white dude like into D&D. I don't know if that's canon, but like he's just nerdy or not at social. He's not into D&D, but he like, I don't know that type of a guy, but the dynamic is that Turk has always like had his back. They have flashbacks of him taking him to parties and even while navigating the hospital and being interns, Turk always has his back for being the social guy and taking him

32:34out the bars and helping him step out of his comfort zone. But he also indulges in JD's really dorky stuff. They just love each other for that. And it is like the quintessential bromance friendship so much so that they had a musical episode. It was very creatively done. A patient comes in and the stick is she can't hear people like talk just in dialogue. So in her brain, she has like a brain tumor that causes her reality to be like a musical. So the entire episode whenever this patient is on screen is sung and Turk and JD have this song called Guy Love. Let's face the facts about me and you are loved. It's specified. And then the chorus goes, it's Guy Love. That's all it is. It's Guy Love. He's my I'm his. There's nothing gay about it in our eyes. Well, first of all, wait, wait, wait, wait, you have a great voice. What the hell

33:37were that come from? It gets the microphone helps. You know, it's like you lean from pounds when you're on TV, something like that. But they're just like one of those examples of a very, very pure wholesome friendship. And again, like I think something about going through just the career of working in a hospital, being a doctor, like that is so taxing on you that a lot of these shows wind up getting shoulder by the relationships with your colleagues. And it's a comedy scrubs. One of the best sitcoms of all time in my opinion. But JD and Turk, their friendship definitely carries a lot of the load when it gets like really real and serious. And you know, there are some upsetting themes. They always lighten the mood and whatnot. So just an outstanding example of a friendship, Turk and JD. I got to tell it out. I've seen the scrubs

34:38series premiere and I just didn't push forward and I should have. And I know I'll like it. I just for some reason, I really had to push myself through how I met your mother. But it's just because I'm not like a sitcom girl. It was nine seasons. And of course, I loved it. And I'm like really just to press the button to hit play. It takes a lot for me. But scrubs is like, I've got a huge blind spot there. How do you, how have you never seen scrubs? I feel like I've hit all the big ones. Like I, I could talk to all the big sitcoms. But scrubs is scrubs is a big blind spot for me. Most of the main cast has also wound up having a pretty nice career for themselves. I think because of this, Zach Braff, this was foreign away, his biggest role is JD. Turk is Donald Fazon, who maybe most people would know from remember the Titans. He was PD. They're running back. Oh, and case in point, JD and Turk for the past year have had T-Mobile commercials where they're like best friends. Yeah. I don't know. The actors are best friends in real life. They're very

35:38public about that. But Sarah Chalk plays probably the main female lead. And then John, what's his name, John C. McGinley. Yeah. John C. McGinley, please. Dr. Perry Cox. Everybody would recognize him. But I foreign away. That is his best role of all time. It's one of those shows that just hits all the comedy beats. And then they can have just like the most serious episode you've seen in a very long time that'll like get the water works out. It's just one of those shows. And I've always loved it. I'm certainly biased. But I will continue to throw it at everybody on the podcast. Turk and JD, good friendship. I have been made it all the way through the entire show. But I've seen big chunks of episodes in a row. And I've loved it. And I literally had them on my list just because I had a feeling that somebody was going to say it. And I mean, they deserve it. Yeah. Like JD and Turk. Everybody knows them to and exactly case in point what you're saying. The commercials that just sells it. That's how good and memorable. Totally. All right. So for my third pick here,

So now I can talk about my fourth, but I'll just tack on to whatever you say about Abby and Elena. Elena, I know. I'm the worst. I have so many other ones, but I picked this one just because it's a different example of best friends, right? Because like I met your mother. They went to college together, they lived together for a long time. They knew each other forever. You know, Abby and Alana, their origin story is told in one episode later on in the seasons. And they just meet both moving to New York. They're young adults. They're in their 20s. They're trying to figure everything out. They're broke, trying to make it in New York. And they just meet and become so close

37:50and become best friends so much so that they will do anything for each other. There's even this weird, it's it's not like romantic love, but Alana is just obsessed with Abby. That it's like there's jokes about, you know, imagining Alana's there while Abby's getting laid and because it makes her happy just to think about being in the same room as her and stuff like that. There's an episode, the pegging episode where Alana gets it over the phone. She gets the information of what's going down and she is happier than Abby is. Is that when she flips up and down and starts twerking on the wall? Yeah. And she's in the sewer, getting the knockoff handbags with her mother. And her her mom turns around and asks her question. And Alana's like, Mom, I want the phone. God. And then she goes back to the conversation just to confirm this is Broad City, right? Yeah. Broad City. Yeah. It's so good. I mean, I fell in love with the show so quickly just because they are so good

38:53together. Lincoln in it is incredible. Oh, yeah. There's so many cameos that of comedians nowadays that are just everywhere. And they even come back to Westchester, I believe, is Abby's hometown. I really do. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So you get a little bit of a close to us love. Overall, it's just one of the, it has some of the scenes that make Emily laugh the hardest. Like if she's dead. Absolutely. Having a bad day. Oh, literally Google this scene shows who are to make her laugh. Brian, have you ever seen it? I have. I've seen several episodes and I did love it though. And it's because those two work off each other. It's like launching the best kind of way. It's a great example of a friendship. I think the origin story of how they got the show was they were both on, you know, maybe one of those like UCB type comedy things. But they had a YouTube series where they were doing a broad, a broad city times called like Broad City

39:56something or other. I didn't bother to Google it. Sorry, everybody. But they had a YouTube series for a long time. And I'm pretty sure Amy Poller like found them through that and was like this fucking rocks like we need to make this into something. But Paul, you've seen all five seasons. Yes. Yeah. In my Mount Rochmore since I already said Mount Rochmore of episodes. One of my favorite things and probably one of the episodes I've seen the most ever is season five episode one. It's sort of final season. It's the first episode and Abby turns 30. And it's in the perspective a lot of the POV of Instagram stories almost like half the episode is Instagram stories. And it's so genius. The way they did it. And they're going from the tippity top of Manhattan and walking all the way to the tippity bottom. And it is so funny. Like it is laugh out loud makes me like kill over laughing funny. And it's just genius the way they did it. And so smart because people like their age really do just like an our age. It's the millennial Bible really is like everyone's looking

40:58through Instagram. It's like the whole thing. It's amazing. All great. So funny. There's so many ongoing gimmicks too. Little bits going on like you never see Abby's roommate. But you see her boyfriend. And he is just like the worst character. But then you come to love him. And it's just effort. Yes. Oh my god. He's the worst. He's hilarious running gag. That was. It's so funny. The writing like you're saying is just incredible. And it's it makes us crack up. But you know, especially towards the end season five. It really has good writing that'll make you feel. Oh my god. You just finale made me weep. Oh my god. Yeah. It was tough. It was tough. Wash it with my sister who showed me and Emily the show. And she's like, all right, I'm going to cry and like the title sequence is going through. And she's like, it's starting already. It's like, oh my god. I know. Love it. Good choice, Paul. But in my soul, I know that the reason I love this show so much is because Sean and Gus were such good and funny friends and talk about like inside jokes from

44:02how I met your mother. These are recurring gags. So basically, we've never seen Psych is about this guy, Sean, whose dad was a detective, and basically taught him how to be insanely observant to even the tiniest details and things around him. He's basically like Sherlock, right? So there's flashbacks of his dad literally like quizzing him in a restaurant like randomly, it's almost like punishing him almost to be like, don't look around the room, how many hats are in the room right now. So basically, he was trained. He's always like brought up to be this like really observant person. And he, I think the series begins with he solves a crime. Like he's watching the news and he's like, this is easy. Like that person did it done. And he goes to the cops and he's like, this person did it. And they, because he knew and knows this stuff, they almost want to book him for the crime. They think he did it because he like knows details or whatever. But he basically convinces the cops that he's psychic. And he is not psychic, but he convinces them he is. And so it's basically him helping them solve the cops solve crimes. And it's really

45:05funny. It's a funny show. Obviously it has the emotional beats and he has like a love interest. But again, the real love story of the show is between Sean and Gus. Gus is his best friend who is not a psychic and has his own like separate job. I think he's like sells insurance or something random, but they have a bit where every time Sean introduces him, like they're on the case or something and they're like knock you on people's door. He'll say like the most insane name for Gus. And Gus has no idea what he's going to say. And he has to kind of just like go along with it. But it's insane. Like names that would never make any sense ever. And he says that or like like actor's name, he would say like, this is Brad Pitt or something crazy. Like so stupid. But it's really funny. And the whole show is them just being absolutely unhinged and goofy, but like solving crimes. So I'm glad I got to say I was saying a bunch of females. I'm glad I could celebrate some men too in my list. I've either been seen it. You recommended that. Man, I can't remember. It must have been like COVID or something like that. A long time ago.

46:06The beginning of Binge Town pretty much. And I went through I think first half of the first season. And I enjoyed it. I forget why I fell off. I think the episodes were you know the hour format. They were long. Yeah. I couldn't commit to it at the time. But I remember cracking up at then. He basically is so smart that he has to act like he's a psychic for him to explain things to the people around him. And it's Gus, right? Who is the friend who just knows he's not psychic. But all of a sudden Sean will bust out and he was like, oh my god, I'm getting a vision. And Gus was like in the back rolling his eyes like here he was fucking goes like. Yeah, fucking dumbass. And it is. I didn't even get into the heart of them being like, you know, they're full friendship, full force. But I was still loving it. So I actually wrote that down though because of how you said it was one of your favorite friendships in TV way back when. So I had to add it to the list just in case. Yeah, it's good stuff. I've had this show recommended to me a couple

47:11of times, seems right up my alley. I think I'm going to have to maybe put it up the list now that I'm hearing it again. Yeah. If I recall, was this one of those shows that got kind of unceremoniously axed after a season and there was an outrage and they let them finish it with like a movie or something? This says at least two movies, maybe three. But they also, I think got canceled and picked up on a weird streaming service. I didn't watch it until it was already done. So I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure the last season was on like a weird internet streaming service. And it was over 10 years ago, I think. So it's not like streaming these days. We're like, oh, who picked it up to be or something. It was like something weird. But I can't, I can't remember. But if I recall, that's what happened. I think I watched the show in like 2018 or something like that. Okay. It's good stuff. Yeah. It's worth it. And Paul, I think you do kind of have to like get
