Bessamer National Airport just landed $4 million in federal funding to renovate and possibly expand its main parking area for large. Aircraft. This Congressionaly directed money targets the apron, which handles bigger planes that cannot safely park anywhere else on the field. City and federal officials say it's crucial for the airport's long-term growth. The apron supports a wide range of operations, from corporate jets and emergency medical flights to law enforcement, military training, hurricane, evacuations, sports teams, and general aviation users.
