Starring singers and turned actors, Terrell Hicks, Method Man and T-Boes, as well as an uncredited cameo from Sean Paul.

2:03Yeah, he was getting started to make an DJ. He's got a promise that you've got to swear that you're not going to look at them. I got in my corner, man. Don't cross it.

3:06Yeah, I mean, this one was on BET and edited for him all the time. You know, big lines get released, produced by hypliums, big dog productions. It was kind of one of the bigger just movies that was just critic proof. And obviously they weren't going to like any of it. But just so many other beloved actors from Hood movies and shows. You got Hassan Johnson years before he's on the wire. Yeah, Tide Ring Turner from Minnesota Society. Went there, yeah, came from minutes.

4:08I think, you know, Ghostface Killer was also cameoing. It's the getaway driver from Whittane Clan. The reason it was pretty much lampooned by mainstream critics. But it was beloved by people like the AV Club and Roger Ebert. It's just the plot is not easy to get into and don't get me wrong. Many of the characters are doing just reprehensible things, including, I think, one thing that was definitely not going to date well is that they're dating us. One of them is dating a 16-year-old. But this is definitely not. Nause is best acting role because he's been in other movies where he has not been good at all. And I think this is just an absolute must-see Hood movie just because the lifestyle, the turf war, the various just

5:11tension building up and showing the Jamaica connection to the mob, the New York City lifestyle, and how it all culminates over the course of New Year's Eve, Frank Vincent from Goodfellas as a brief cameo, and yet a key role. And just hype Williams really has that engaging kind of camera work. I don't know why he hasn't done more movies, considering how he just has an engaging just perspective for lack of a better word. Like he just has these angles that you can't describe, you know, visually. But I'm usually a, you know, don't get wrong. I love doing music videos, but usually it can backfire if you're just worried about making cool shots, but music video directors who actually dabble and get creative. You know, I think the thing is you know when you're watching something by hype,

6:12like he just has those camera views and for a $3 million budget, you know, filmed in New York. That is very impressive. Jay-Z was considered for the main title role, but I'm glad it went to DMX because again, DMX much like Tupac. He had that bad boy attitude, and he was able to channel it, redemption arcs, and I just, you know, all those various collaborations with Oinks and everything. It's just he should have done more movies. And it's a shame that he got regulated to direct a video and being internet meme. But yeah, I mean, this movie really holds up. I love how Nasda's character is trying to move to Africa and ball-ling low and Atlanta with DMX. It gives you just all kinds of perspective, including

7:15how DMX's character Tommy, I like how his nicknames Tommy Buns get it, and he's coerced by a shady organization to assassinate a Christian preacher, and I like how it's just kind of just, again, you just show these people in these impossible circumstances. And once again, I mean, I talked about the city of God and some of these other movies, totally different movies. But the reason this movie is pretty beloved is it just shows how they can't escape. They're in a pretty just ridiculous lifestyle, you know, they can hide behind the suit, but they're not happy. I mean, and it just gives you some room for thought. Like, these guys could easily be a record producer or even just some kind of celebrity, and they would be just as unhappy. They aren't able to balance it out. The women are unfortunately kind of trophy-wise, but they at least get some reasonable screen time instead of just

8:19you're only here for sex. You know, they want to escape as well. And Terrell Hicks had some reasonable on-screen charisma. And yeah, I mean, it was just very engaging. I like how at one point they show a chess game being played, and that's ultimately what the movie is. It's a chess game gone wrong. And I like how whenever they're making escapes from the cops, like it just shows how nothing is going to get any better. It really is a visually stunning, but a visually well-tolled movie. And I think that's what's cool about it too is see them getting out of their cars, their tripping over everything. They're way out of shape. They're just, you know, their days are numbered. So I guess you could say it's pretty poetic for lack of a better word. And I would watch it again.

9:19I have seen it a few times since. And I definitely think it's the reason it's a well-ranked. But movie is it really did kind of raise the game. Line's Gate of Cores came out with some of the other stuff like State Property by Damon Dash. You can skip those. Those are just very incompetently made. Lowest common denominator. And I think it's just because they're just authentically told not a single decent actor or inter-original idea. And the reason this is stood out was, I mean, if it's thinking about what was going to happen at the end of the millennium in 98, said in 99 and it's already talking forwarding to what's going to happen on New Year's Day in 2000. So this was a movie that was all about, hey, just think ahead. It wasn't thinking about the Y2K crap or any of the stuff back then.

10:20That's that's something, you know, because every other movie was just Doomsday scenario. It didn't make any sense why they wanted to go there. So yeah, I I applaud this movie. I unfortunately saw the sequel in full first. I have my reasons. I'm a fan of my PC Williams from the wire. And starred the game. Yeah. I mean, I say more. Millionaire. Always club. But there's the, yeah, it fucking sucks. I think the game is a nice guy. I'd like to him in movies like Street Kings.

11:20Yeah. But all in all, not that great. But I think the reason why he had his moment of the sun is again. He was energetic. What have you? All together though, this movie was just trashed. Like it didn't look like anyone wanted to be there. It was cheap. This could be. It was produced by Sony, I think. Yeah, just only if you're into a trashy being movie night and seat. I was and I was. But again, that's only if you're a Mr. Science theater type person, you know, Joe Bob type guy, where you are wanting a viral or you're trying to watch a stupid movie that has no reason existing other than for just goofy, you know, make fun of it for the wrong reasons type. And that's not always a thank for everybody. Sometimes there are movies that you can

12:21take, you know, and any regardless of the tone, any perspective, but it's just not that kind of movie. So yeah. The reason it's we discussed about these movies is because we're not really going to do a perspective on DMX and on a rep return to actors and see how they fared. And I decided to do it in the form of a franchise. So this could have been a franchise. It had no business being it though, given how I screwed it up with the stupid cash and sequel. I mean, they could have called it anything. And they just decided to do it in name only sequel. Yeah, whatever I'm done. We'll return after these messages.
