Bears Release Pro Bowl LB Tremaine Edmunds, Save $31.5M

0:00With the NFL today, March 6th, the Chicago Bears have agreed to release Pro Bowl linebacker Tremaine Edmonds. This marks the second big roster move after trading wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills. Both changes happened on Thursday. Earlier this year in February, the Bears allowed Edmonds to look for a trade. He was in the last year of a 4-year 72-million-dollar deal signed in 2023. Ed included a non-guaranteed $13.9 million salary for 2026 plus bonuses. Releasing him cuts his $17.4 million cap hit, saving the team $15 million. Add in the Moore trade, and Chicago frees up $31.5 million in cap space right away. The 27-year-old led the Bears with 112 tackles last season.
