Baseball Star Sentenced for Murder, Wife Stands by Him

0:00Durham story is making news on March 1st. Former Major League Baseball pitcher Dan Seraphini received the life sentence without parole on February 27, 2026. He was convicted in July 2025 of murdering his father-in-law Gary Spore and trying to kill his mother-in-law Wendy Wood during a burglary at their home in 2021. Wendy Wood survived the shooting but ended up with serious brain damage. And tragically, she died by suicide in 2023 while living in an assisted facility. The sentencing had been pushed back from August 2025. Seraphini's ex-wife Aaron Spore supported him through the trial. She testified that he was innocent and asked the judge for mercy at sentencing. Meanwhile, her sister Adrian Spopher condemned him harshly, saying he brought evil into their family and planned to profit from their parents' estate. Aaron and Seraphini share two young sons, now seven and four years old. She filed for divorce after his conviction, seeking full custody, but no child support

1:01or alimony. The couple met when Aaron worked for Seraphini's first wife and their quick marriage raised eyebrows. Family friend Samantha Scott, who also nannied for them, admitted to an affair with Seraphini. She pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact in February 2025 and testified against him.
