Baltimore Ravens take SURPRISING SWING on high-profile QB prospect, KEEP ADDING to 2026 draft haul

The Baltimore Ravens added plenty of talent to their roster with their 2026 draft class, and they reportedly added even more to it by taking a chance on a high profile quarterback. On today's show, of course, we'd have to get into the Ravens' full 2026 draft class who they took day one, day two, day three, and I have it into all of it. I think they had a really solid draft, and we'll do a little more breakdown on that. We'll also talk about, in the second part of the show, the Ravens keep on adding to their draft halls. Some undrafted phrases we talked about a little bit yesterday. We'll also dive a little bit more today is to who they have added on since we last talked yesterday. There is a name, but the big name that everyone is talking about right now in the first part of the show. But the Ravens are importantly taking a chance on a high profile quarterback prospect with an invite to a mini camp this upcoming weekend. So that's the big story everybody's talking about right now, and it certainly is one kind of surprising and unexpected, but I do understand because there is a spot open for the third

2:11quarterback spot, which I don't think is going to be anyone that makes the roster, but potentially a practice squad quarterback. The Ravens are taking a chance here, importantly, on one of the highest profile quarterbacks in this class in Diego, Pavia, out of Vanderbilt. Now Pavia, one undrafted, and he's a guy that finished second, runner up in the Heisman. This last season, obviously for Nana Mendoza, out of Indiana, won the award. And look, Pavia is an extremely talented player. I mean, burst onto the scene over the course of his season in 2025, where he led the Vandy program back to relevancy, I guess, if you want to call it that, where he ended up putting up 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions, and that followed up a 20 touchdown for interception campaign in 2024 after he transferred for a couple of years or after a couple of years at New Mexico State. He's someone that, when you look at what he actually brings to the table, I mean, he's

3:11confident in more ways than one, especially on the football field. And he's a guy that is a dual thread option, you know, he does have that rushing ability to him last year at Vandy, rushed for 862 yards on 167 attempts with 10 rushing touchdowns. That was a college career high for him. So he does bring that. And I think he again, with the way that the Ravens want to play football, he does fit that. He also has pretty solid accuracy on the move, which is good. He's able to make those flashy big plays and kind of go off script. But, you know, the big negative with him is obviously the measure of bulls, where I believe he was listed around six foot at the end of the field, if I'm not mistaken, but measurements revealed him more around five, nine, five, ten, he's, I think he was officially listed five, ten and one eighth. I had, I saw some size list them at five, nine and some change. So again, the makeup, it's very rare to see a quarterback with, with that makeup, meet the NFL. It's not impossible, obviously, you know, if you can play, you can play, it doesn't matter

4:14your height. But obviously, with the quarterback, there are concerns about throwing over the line and seeing over the line and that stuff, and not in like a joking way, I'm being serious about like, you know, like that's things that the teams worry about. That's something that teams actually think about. So there's also some patients that he needs to improve on in terms of some of the, the split safety looks and really reading that a little bit better. Sometimes he floats his deep throws with too much air under the ball and that allows defensive backs to recover a little bit. But obviously, the, well, I don't know, I guess one of the big things with him is some of the stuff that happened, the distraction level stuff, I guess, off of the field. You know, obviously after losing out on the Heisman, there was a whole big controversy because he ended up going to, well, for us, he posted an Instagram story where it read F all the voters, but family for life.

5:14And then the next day, or maybe it was that morning, he or that night, he went to a night club and he apparently bought or held the sign that read F Indiana. So obviously that was interpreted by a lot of people as a slight at Mendoza, you know, he's very feisty. You know, I like competitive spirit. He has competitive spirit. Well, from what I read about it, like a lot of different people, there were some concerns. And, you know, he's been taking advice. And you know, one of, I guess his mentor is Johnny Manzel, which took Manzel's credit. He's kind of like cool, like cool down a little bit and he actually was like telling probably, hey, learn from my mistakes, learn from Johnny, don't be Johnny off the field. He said he had so much opportunity and he threw it away. He said, Diego's young and lit and it's easy in that position to get out of control. But I'm trying to give him the best advice I can. He's listening. I think he is. So that's a blessing. So again, I think everyone's going to make the memes. Oh, Johnny Manzel's mentoring, Pavia and all that stuff.

6:17And so he's at least giving advice. I don't know if it's like the official mentor title. I'm not exactly sure about that. But yeah, I mean, there are Manzel certainly giving him advice as well. I'm just kind of how to handle just everything. But it is a big concern with him. He is high profile. He is someone that I think earned an opportunity in the NFL. There's also controversy with him not having an agent. So of course here in Baltimore, we are that has nothing new here in Baltimore with the Lamar Jackson situation. And guess who wrote about it? Guess who wrote about it, Mr. Mike Florio. So of course, Mike Florio finds his way into this conversation. So you know what? I guess he's consistent on it. And even if it's just for Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks, and obviously he posted this on April 25th, so it wasn't officially announced then. But again, this is just on an invite basis, right? Adam Schefter and Matt Zenit's multiple people reporting here.

7:22That Diego Pavia is accepted invitation to the Ravens mini camp next weekend. So nothing set in stone, right? It's just an invitation. But there is an opportunity for Pavia, maybe to carve out his role as the Ravens practice squad quarterback. They currently don't have someone in that role. Obviously, it's the more Jackson and Tyler Huntley. So if Pavia can come in there, do his thing and get a spot and just work throughout the preseason. I think, look, does he make the roster if all that happens? Probably not. You know, at the end of the day, there's a non-zero chance that maybe he could be the guy or them. And the Ravens actually brought in Joe Fenniano, the Yukon quarterbacks. So I guess that will be the competition potentially. And the Ravens do need a third quarterback, like they need to have a guy on the practice squad. If it's not going to be the third quarterback on the roster. So there's like, again, there is an opportunity here for Diego Pavia. And while I wasn't what I was expecting, there was a little part of me that during the

8:26draft process. I'm like, well, what if there is a quarterback that falls that they like? And maybe they'll spend one of their sevens on that guy. They didn't obviously do that. But there was like quarterbacks, not a need for the Ravens. We know that. They have their starter. He's a star. They have their backup. He's awesome. He got to have insurance. I mean, maybe he can be the, you know, Trace McSorley was kind of high profile in a different way, obviously. But, you know, maybe he can be the Trace McSorley of the Ravens where he just kind of sticks around for a few years, learns the system is there and available potentially their quarterback rule and all of that. But this is super intriguing to me again. I think there's potential there. The size stuff, especially for quarterback, I think, means a little bit more. But look, he can play. It's just going to be a matter of kind of cleaning up some of those other things. And look, he is not like an NFL starting guy day one here, right? Like any opportunity he was going to get, he was going to probably have to cause way. Maybe a backup role the very best, but he's someone that does need a little bit of refinement some of the stuff that he does. And, Amen.

9:27Who better to learn from? Little Mar Jackson, right? Being that room with him, learning from him, you know, Tyler in there as well. I mean, he got two high level quarterbacks there. And I think it's a good situation for him. So that third quarterback competition, and again, he's polarizing. So he's going to bring a lot of headlines and storylines and all that type of stuff, especially with the player that he wasn't Vandy and how good his year was and, you know, leading Vandy to the year that they had last season and all that, the Heisman stuff, there are going to be a lot of headlines with him that come. But, you know, Baltimore clearly see something there, even if it's just on a tryout basis here at minicamp, I would not be shocked if Baltimore brings him in and hasn't compete throughout the off season and just see what he has. I don't think there's any harm in it, you know, like maybe they have to choose between Fannyano and Pavia, and that's a decision they have to make. Maybe they'll make that after minicamp, maybe they won't, and maybe they'll just bring them both guys and say, hey, compete, we'll see what happens. But there's an opening for it. So we could, if everything goes well for Pavia over the course of weekend, see him get signed

10:28and then or just, you know, brought in for training camp and then, you know, maybe get cut during fun or cut down day after the preseason and, you know, it's an opportunity. So it's cool for, like, it's a cool story. It was surprising. I didn't expect the Ravens to go Pavia's direction from being honest. You know, there were a few other guys I was thinking about Pavia was not really one of them. I thought he could have gone in the sixth or seventh. Like I thought a team was maybe going to take a flyer on him. But, you know, he's someone that he has a personality. He is super competitive and, you know, with all of the stuff about, you know, how polarizing of a player he is in multiple different facets. It certainly is another added element to everything involving him. But look, I mean, he backed, he backed up the play on a football field as he had perfect prospects. No, but he's someone that I think could be, you know, the Ravens third quarterback. So we'll see how that unfolds coming up though. I'll tell you that. But it was awesome. We had a ton of great instant reaction shows and bonus episodes, the draft is always super fun. So thanks to everybody tuning for the draft coverage. But let's now dive into the Ravens continuing to add to their draft hold. Now here's the draft haul itself first, right? So obviously, everyone the Ravens drafted.

13:33They took Vengeo and the first round guard from Penn State at pick 14 fly on young comes off the board next for them at 45 the edge rusher from Missouri and get your Kobe land the wider seer from USC at pick 80 lives a surround the wider seaver from Indiana. He was at 118 then at 133 Matthew Hittner the tight end 162 Chandler rivers the corner from Duke. We have Joss Quavis the Alabama tight end 173 Adam Randall Clemson running back 174 211 Ryan Eccle the Michigan State punner at 250 ratio on Benny is the pick from Michigan and then Evan Behrensden the guard from Northwestern was at 253 so I mean, look, I think this was a really solid haul for Baltimore, but obviously it's not just about who they take in the draft itself, but the undrafted phrase and look, we just talked about Diego Pavia and the report that, you know, from Adam Schefter or Mazenis, et cetera, that he is going to be in Baltimore for many camp this weekend and, you know, accepted an invitation.

14:35I guess try out someone along those lines there. So that's one that you're looking at. But we got a lot of reports after the draft because, you know, undrafted for agency is a whirlwind whenever the draft ends is like, boom, you're starting. There's always the thing with undrafted for agency where I'm sure a lot of teams prefer, once you hit maybe late six to early seventh, they just prefer their clients to go undrafted because there's bonus money involved there to pick where you can go. It becomes a lot more attractive to be an undrafted for agent as opposed to getting draft from the seventh round because of, you know, like if you're a high priority undrafted guy, you're getting paid a decent amount of bonus money to go to a place and assigning bonus and all that stuff or however, you know, however, the contracts work there. So Ravens, everybody got a couple of really intriguing guys. So obviously talked about Nick Dawkins, the Penn State Center who played next to Vengeee Awane and is actually I think going to add a really intriguing element to the Ravens Center competition that we all know the Ravens didn't draft a center in this draft. So he essentially is the quote unquote Ravens prospect at that position they brought in.

15:39There are also a couple of other really intriguing players like Diego Pounds, who in my opinion, I had like a wait for early fifth round grade on him. So Baltimore getting to me offensive lineman. He was a tackle for Mississippi State. So I think that he was a really good get and if anything could compete for a practice squad spot, maybe I think the Ravens light Carson Vincent. So I don't think that his roster spots in jeopardy. I mean, maybe if he plays well enough and by him, I mean, Pounds, maybe he can push for a spot. But I'm not sure. I don't think he's about areas Web Jr. was another one that, you know, I'm just old, you know, I just, I'll admit it here. I'm old. I mean, watching the Darius Web in Baltimore and now having his son with the Ravens just like, there's no way, right? But yes, the Darius Web Jr. The defensive back from the forest is also portally a part of that class. So from Cools through our lines all the way around, the Ravens actually did add another player over the course of the day on Sunday because again, it's kind of a, it's

16:42a process, right? As you kind of go through it. So actually, it was a familiar face. The Ravens actually had already signed a Maryland wide receiver, but they signed another one is Matt Zenitz reporting the Ravens are expected to sign for a Maryland wide receiver Julio Farouk. And he's someone who had 58 catches at Maryland last season and he began his college career at Oklahoma. So again, you're just kind of stacking up here and we can go to the UDFA Ravens tracker here and we'll use the one from Baltimore beat down shout outs in the kilometre for this one. So many of the guys that intrigued me again, Matthew McDoom and he's a good player, but also his name is just epic, but it's not about the name. Like McDoom actually is someone that I think is a really good player. Aaron Graves on an eye with a defensive lineman, I like Elijah Quest, Robinson on an Auburn. He's a guy that I think could be potentially an impact player for them maybe on the practice squad. You know, Kyandre Jackson type of role, like that type of situation for him, other than that. I mean, a couple of us, I mentioned, you know, Octavian Smith Jr., the other Maryland

17:45receiver that they signed is in this as well. So, you know, you have your like reported in your confirmed signings and, you know, sometimes there are situations where the UDFA signing will fall through. So there is a report of it happening and then, you know, maybe there's just, I don't know, maybe it's money. Maybe it's opportunity. Team like all that. So, you know, we got to wait for these to be officially confirmed. It's going off of the reports, obviously, right? Like Pavi was reported by Schaefter and Zenit, some of those guys and, you know, a lot of these are reported by Aaron Wilson's and it's himself. So, you know, Peliseras and on these. So you have a lot of other options, which are intriguing. And actually, I think the Fannyano for Joe Fannyano, that also, I have to, I'm trying to see if it was a mini camp invite or if it was like he's being signed signed. Maybe it is, they're going to compete in mini camp between Pavi and Fannyano and they will just sign one of them. That could very well be what's going on here.

18:47So I need to do a little more into that. It looks like it's a mini camp invite. It's a reported mini camp invite, but we shall see on that one. So that has another layer of the elements of the whole Pavi situation too, because if Fannyano was already signed and then Paviano was not, then, you know, you would have, all right, you're going to bring another quarterback for competition, there he's going to roll with the three in terms of Lamar and Tyler and whoever it would be. But if it's a mini camp battle, you know, for the next weekend, that's already a headline in itself. So it already has some store lines coming out of all this stuff for next weekend, or I guess this upcoming weekend, which is really cool, but yeah, I mean, look, the Ravens are going to have opportunities for these guys to make the roster. You have 11 draft picks. I'm not sure all 11 draft picks make your roster, you know, obviously, Bernstein is the guy that I'm kind of looking at is the player that might not. And that could be an opportunity for pounds, you know, pounds isn't intriguing. And actually, let me find as official measurables here. And I thought I'd come as I'm listed at six six three hundred and twenty five pounds with 33 and three quarters inch arms.

19:50So I think that for him, Swing Tackle is probably the best role. Again, like you have events not ready on your roster. So I'm not sure how many of these guys will actually make the Ravens roster this year. You know, I think you have potential options. Dom DeLuca also from Penn State is intriguing because I think that the Ravens do, depending on what happens and how Teddy Buchanan's injury rehab is going, we could maybe see the Ravens add another linebacker in the fold here, especially, I mean, look, you have Jay Higgins, you have a couple of intriguing players there. He's someone I'd watch. I think he's also intriguing. I mentioned Cortez Bram as well from Memphis, The White Receiver. I like him a lot. So again, like this is a solid class overall. I think that did a really good job adding. And again, the Dawkins signing to me is the best one. Like I am very excited about that, you know, obviously your competition now at Center looks like Cory Bullock, Danny Pinter, Javon Gwen, who has been mentioned as well as now Dawkins, Dawkins is super athletic and someone that, you know, past blocking

20:53wise, good and look, I get it, right? Tire limter bomb was not good at past blocking, right? Like that was one of the weaknesses where, you know, when you look at everything about limter bomb, you know, the past blocking was the thing you looked at it like, okay, that's where you can get him a little bit. But at the same time, like we know how good he was, right? Like limter bomb was in a elite elite center. I don't like everyone has weaknesses, right? And we know the past block numbers and the stats that came out, he was what second worst center in the NFL or something last season in that department in one metric there, I believe. So like, again, that does not mean limter bomb was not a lead at what he did at the center position for the Ravens. I think he's going to be great in Las Vegas. The Ravens have to make sure that drop off between whoever it is, Bullock, Pinter, Dawkins, Gwen, whoever it is, you need to make sure that it's not a huge drop off because I think you improved tremendously at the right guard spot, assuming Vengeal Wine is going to play there. Simpson, I think, is an upgrade for sure over where he's how much of an upgrade.

21:54I think it's a very, like, it's a swing in terms of how high of a ceiling or low of floor. It will be there in terms of the upgrade. But if you can keep the center downgrade to a minimum, they're looking at a much better offensive wine, a lot more time for the Marjaxon, and that is exactly, it's exactly what you need here as you're looking ahead to 2026. So kind of in the final part of the show, we'll continue talking about draft analysis for the Ravens, who they took, what it means for the team, and some players on the roster as well that are already there, as well as some next moves potentially for the Ravens. It feels pretty weird not doing a mock draft today, obviously, you know, we're not doing 2027 mock drafts until very far in the future, but I mean, look, we were doing mock drafts for the past handful of months every Monday, we were doing it. And, you know, I'm very pleased that the draft ended up panning out for Baltimore here

24:00again. Like, I think this is a very, very good class for them, you know, did I love every pick day plus style, no, obviously, but I do think there was a lot of value to be had, especially with the Awane at 14 who I thought was going to go earlier. He ended up being there for the Ravens down young. I thought was going to go earlier. He just plays with that tenacity that you want and a guy that, I mean, he's a competitor. The Ravens brought nasty back here, like competitive spirit back to Baltimore. I mean, you have a lot of those guys on this roster now with this rookie class. And even that, that trace is back to probably a two, you know, it all links back to one. So I think that Baltimore's draft class, you hit multiple needs and especially like looking double down at wide receiver, you don't get the center. But I think he get two big bodies for Lamar Jackson. I think Sarat is more ahead of where Jacobi Lane is. And I could see Sarat actually having a, I don't want to say like big role, but I think he could be used for Lane. I don't know. Like, he could be an active for after season.

25:00He could have some level of a role and it's just a jump ball player, but I don't know. Like I feel like Sarat is, at least for more, I'm kind of looking at it. I feel like Sarat's probably going to start ahead of Jacobi Lane. You know, the Hibner and Quavis thing is interesting. Obviously, I think there's versatility that both guys can be used with where, you know, and we know the Ravens history with drafting two to tens, right? Like, you know, the second guy usually is the better guy. In fact, that kind of is the case. So, you know, Quavis, there you go, next great Ravens tight end. You know, potentially like an H backroll for him. And I'm really sure if they want to do that with him, I am curious to see what else they're going to do. Like, are they going to add anybody else in for agency? Obviously, at center, you have guys that grand glass gal or Ethan Postage, like James Daniels do it all offensive lineman. Maybe he could be an option. It's tight end. It could maybe bring in Joker win. Why do receiver could be Hopkins on the D line? Is it reader who, I don't know, could maybe by the time this and this, he's already sound with the Giants because that's the expectation. But maybe it is reader, maybe it is Clay's Campbell, Daveing, clowning on the edge.

26:03But I do think that like this draft, plugged up a lot of the holes, not everyone, but a lot of the holes that could have been better in free agent signings. I do expect the Ravens still to sign one or two guys. And that could be from any of those positions that I listed. Maybe it's a linebacker as well. Maybe it's a safety. I'm not sure how that's going to work. But I would probably say it's less likely now than it was at the start of the draft that they would sign in Joker or bring Hopkins back or clowny because it's just like, it's a lot of different guys, right? Like you already have six wider receivers now, you already have four tight ends now. You're pushing it with seven wide outs, five tight ends, that's too many, right on the D line. You added Benny there. So that's another guy in that room, you know, Zion knows another guy in the edge room. So I'm not saying these guys like can't be signed or like you can't find ways for it to work. I think that they should, especially it said, I think a veteran center in there and I know Pinter is in there, but one more probably would make me feel good, but I don't think they're going to do that.

27:04If I'm getting honest with you, I just, I think that their veteran center signing was Pinter. And maybe they were banking on getting a guy like Logan Jones, Jake slaughter, but obviously in the second round, like it does kind of is what it is there. So they didn't do that. But that's, that's like the one spot where I have the question mark, right? It's center. I think every other position, I feel very confident in what they have. And backers, another intriguing one, depending on Teddy Buchanan, I don't even know who are the free agent. But I don't think they're going to sign a guy because again, you have Teddy, if Teddy has to go on like the PUP or something, they're like, I are, then maybe they do. And like they probably have a better indication. Let's see free agent linebackers NFL, Bobby O'Karrickay is available, Bobby Wagner is available. Kenneth Murray, you know, I remember that debate between Kenneth Murray and Patrick all those years ago and now Kenneth Murray, it's actually pretty surprised. He's still a free agent at this point, although I guess maybe I'm not. So he's another option for you, Devon Bush is an option, Matt Milano, I'm surprised

28:09Matt Milano. I mean, the injury stuff with Matt Milano is probably the reason why I still a free agent. He's still a really good player though. So I guess, you know, if you want to take a shot there, but I don't know, like it feels less likely to me they're going to sign a free agent at this point, but I don't think that means they're not going to. I just think that the way that the draft fell to them and they're bored, like the fact they were able to double-dip a receiver and you're able to double-dip a tight end and, you know, obviously we're looking at guys if you're Baltimore like are they going to bring in Hopkins, bring in in Joku, that makes sense. Now all of a sudden it becomes a bit of a log jam, so I don't know. So there's a lot still on the table here, but look, Baltimore got better. The draft went really well for them, you know, not every pick was my favorite, like I think they could have not traded up for Hibner. I think that they could have gotten them with their pick. They gave up some 2027 capital for that one, you know, I think that Lane at his spot was a little bit of a reach there are other receivers I wish they would have gotten in that spot, like Chris Bell or Prasel, etc., but, you know, they clearly like his potential and he's not a bad player. Like that's not what I'm saying. I mean, I like him as a prospect, but the fact like if you flip Sirot and Lane,

29:14I love that. Like I think it's great value both ways for Lane and Sirot being the way that it was. I think Sirot's even better value and where he got taken and then Lane's a little bit worse. But at the end of the day, like I think you're going to see multiple guys contribute. You're one obviously a one and you aren't going to be the two guys and then you kind of fill them along the edges like Hibner, obviously he's going to have a role. I think Quavis as well. So lots of exciting stuff in Baltimore here and I think it's going to be a great season, especially with this working class and look, they need contributions, not just from this year's rookie class, but also last year. So Malachi, Mike Green, all those guys, I think you're essentially getting an influx of two rookie classes because of how inconsistent last year's group was for them in terms of rookies. So, but Jesse Mencer unlocking the defense, hopefully with Anthony Weaver and Declan Little, doing his magic, lots of influx of talent here for Baltimore, hopefully.
