August McLaughlin: Oversharing, disordered eating & girl boners
About this episode
Episode 128 with August McLaughlin.
“Puberty was really difficult for me. I used to think everyone had a really hard time, but now I realize hormones and ADHD played a big role in that.”
August is a journalist, author of several books, and the host & producer of Girl Boner Radio, which was named “one of the best sex podcasts you should be listening to” by Romper and one of the top feminist podcasts by Bellesa. Her articles and expertise about sex and sexuality have been featured in a range of publications, including Cosmopolitan, The Washington Post, O: The Oprah Magazine, Forbes, and Shape, just to name a few.
August & I talk about her history with anorexia and how a lingering addiction to diet pills led to her ADHD diagnosis. We also talk about body dysmorphia and some of the common experiences so many of us have with ADHD and disordered eating.
And we talk about sexuality and ADHD, and the paths to finding what works for our brains and our libidos.
⛔️ TRIGGER WARNING ⛔️ We talk about anorexia, dieting, and disordered eating behaviors, so if you’re not in a place to listen to this topic, you might want to skip this episode.
