August 10 Doubling down on Failure

Tea With George

About this episode

August 10 Doubling down on Failure
Some tactics that seem like idiocy to conservatives are actually used on liberals. For instance, defenders have failed policies no longer have to prove success. They merely have to convince enough people that fixing the failure would be morally offensive. In business, we call that doubling down on failure. If a product loses money year after year, we fix it. We eliminate it. We don't say we hate our customers because they object to our product. Yet government operates under that exact logic. Failure becomes evidence that even more money and even more authority are needed. Government grows rapidly when emotions are high because every attempt at reform is portrayed as cruelty even when they've demonstrably failed at the very purpose for which they were created.
