It's March 16th. Here's your Birmingham news in two minutes. Auburn basketball missed the NCAA tournament after a tough finish, dropping nine of its last 12 games. The Tigers bounced back by grabbing the top overall seed in the national invitation tournament. They will host South Alabama in the first round on Tuesday at 9pm at Neville Arena. Auburn holds an 8-4 edge over South Alabama and has taken the last five meetings. The Jaguars wrapped their season at 21 wins and 11 losses, going 11-7 in the Sunbell Conference. Fans might feel a bit down after four straight NCAA appearances, but this gives Auburn a chance to extend the year. It marks their seventh trip to the NIT and the first since 2009 when they reached the third round their deepest run ever. Overall, the Tigers are four and six in the event. A win on Tuesday sends Auburn to the second round against the winner of Seattle University and St. Thomas from Minnesota, also at home, that keeps the momentum going in front of

their crowd. The NIT's final four teams head to Indianapolis for the semifinals in championship at Hinkle Field House and Game Bridge Field House. Auburn hopes to make a strong showing and build for next season. D&N is brought to you by our sponsor link in the description.
