At AM Show, Grieves Explains ITEAM Consortium in Detail
About this episode
Dr. Mike Grieves, executive director of the Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Innovative Design at Florida Institute of Technology, explains ITEAM (Independent Technical Evaluation of Additive Manufacturing), which was recently introduced at RAPID + TCT. ITEAM is, he said, "a user-driven consortium to help advance AM faster than what is happening right now." The focus is on creating an information ecosystem that lets users answer "two core questions they always have to answer when they are looking at new technologies:" Can I build it with AM? (Is it technically possible?) And should I build it with AM. (Is it economically feasible?). GM, Infosys and SME are already involved.
