The big change in the squad was the absence of Captain Martin Oedogard, who's dealing with a knee injury. Oedogard has now missed 16 games this season, topping the number he sat out all of last year. He's battled shoulder issues early on, a serious knee problem in the fall, and a recent knock that kept him out until last weekend. He came off the bench in the North London Derby against Tottenham, setting up the final goal in Arsenal's 4-1 win, their biggest ever Premier. League victory there. Despite a full week to prepare, the team chose not to risk him against Chelsea. Meanwhile, Kai Havards returned to the bench after his own rough injury spell. The German missed four straight games with a muscle issue on top of a four-month knee layoff from the season opener. Arteta said Havards trained well and is fully fit, calling him a real threat, especially facing his old club.
