Arrow Energy vs Sunpork: Gas Pipelines Dispute

Arrow Energy, a joint venture between Shell and Petro-China, has filed a court claim against SunPork, Australia's top pork producer over gas pipelines, planned under their big piggery on Queensland's western downs. The dispute centers on the Tongue Park site, near Cogan, west of Brisbane, Arrow secured state and federal approvals for three pipelines there as part of Surrad Basin operations. These land rules require companies to reach a conduct and compensation deal with land owners for major work, or take it to the land court if talks. Fail. SunPork runs one of the state's largest piggeries at Tongue Park with capacity for 142,000 standard pig units. The Cameron Family gained full ownership in March 2025, ending a 40-year partnership with other families. Two of the pipelines, each about 17 kilometers long, would move coal-seeing gas and produce water from extraction to Arrow sites. A third, 59 kilometers long, would deliver treated water from other locations.
