Arrests at Lakenheath Protests, Despite Unlawful Ban

0:00On April 5th, seven folks got arrested outside RAF Lake Inheath Airbase in Suffolk on suspicion of backing the band group Palestine Action. That's five men and two women nab Sunday morning at a peace encampment during anti-war protests tied to the conflict in Iran. These demos kicked off after reports that a U.S. fighter jet shot down in Iran, Friday had launched from Lake Inheath. The arrest happened right after a retired colonel gave a speech to the crowd. Officers from Lake Inheath Alliance for Peace said the cops moved in during their peaceful stand. Sefford police are enforcing the current prescription law, even though a high court ruled it unlawful back in February. But an appeal keeps the van active for now. Meanwhile, two others face charges from a Saturday blockade, Michelle McDonough for highway obstruction and blocking an officer, due in Ipswich Court.
