Okay, because once again, they play the Rangers who are either they're one, I mean, they're second last in the National Hockey League. And the Rangers come out and basically like out shoot him like like Watts. It was insane. What was a 43 18 was in the final shots. And like they're getting their goal tenning was fabulous, kept them in it. And then they kind of chipped away, chipped away. And everybody the off happy, but the people that are looking at the draft pick and now they're putting themselves in a situation. And, and it's not. Here's my thing. It's not a bad thing to have success now. And they can, you can tell the disconnect between what you really need to do. Oh, yeah. Five pick and the players just with the shackles off. We're back. We're playing our hockey now. Oh, yeah. You know, and, and then you got certain people going, we're better with these other guys that'll line up. No, you're not. Well, no, you're not. You don't have a chance against

2:09any of these top teams in the playoffs series. Teams are, I hate to say it. Teams are coming in. They're either teams below you or teams that are in any way, shape or form are looking for. This is a team we, we should beat. They're overlooking you. Yeah. And, and clearly that's the, and then if you come out and work as hard as the Leafs have worked, you're going to win hockey games in the national hockey, especially when you get that type of goal tenning. Yeah. And yeah. So I mean, once again, I mean, the fans, I guess they got lots of applause going off the ice. They put another two points up in the board. They, whoo, whoo, closer to getting boss, bossed in that pick. And there's still some guys that you can't go on. Recently biased this, you, what is that saying? I will completely screw it up. But it's like, if you can, negativity is to keep doing the same thing over. And the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and sucked in by some of these performances that you have seen over and over again, and this little snippet of games that don't mean anything from a standpoint of pressure,

3:12then you're just setting yourself up to make the same mistakes all over. Who are you speaking though? Are you speaking about, I'm talking off of this or the fan base, everybody, the fan base. I think the fan base knows better. I don't think that Matt. The fan base is so diverse that there's going to be people and I'm like, there's going to be people that really watch hockey in a light like a hockey mind and go, don't get sucked in on this. And there's going to be fans. It's just want to see the Leafs win. And there's nothing wrong with that. That's part of it. And they're going to say, hey, this guy's pretty good. Yeah. The only guy out of this whole thing, right? Other than they get to see that I feel really good about his eastern cow. Oh, I thought for sure you're going to say Matthias Michelli. Not yet. No, no. But I'm not good for him. He's got some points. He's got, he's got, he's due a contract. Well, yeah, but this, because this Cowan and I don't know what he is. I've talked. I've called Mark on her bottom because you see things and you want to know because you see other guys top guys in there.

4:13There's that's right when you hear about this next guy coming up from other teams. And this is their guy, right? They've traded, mentioned this is their guy for now that's coming up. And he actually does look like a player that could find a way into a top six on an NHL team. I wish he was bigger, but he's got the heart of a lion. So that kind of takes away the actual physical size when you start to look at guys like, and I'm not saying he is this guy, but to be a top six forward in the national hockey league, you cannot be one dimensional in guys like Braden Point have proved that the under size guys like March on, they bring another element to their game along with their incredible skill and tenacity. And clearly this kid competes. So good for him. And that makes me even more pissed off that when the games mattered the most, this guy was either in a suit or wherever he was. Like even when they sucked, this guy was still in another lineup. Yeah. So by the way, today is Thursday. That was actually really funny. I feel much better about my situation in the seats after watching that. Well, Gentili said he's like, those are two kind of prominent blue jazzy. They could have got better seats. Well, and, and it's not like they were wearing incogn, like, and glasses and about that their own frigging jerseys out with their names. They didn't look like Bobby Valentine in the dugout. That's for sure. You know, it's, uh, it's just funny, like, you would think that somebody would escort them to the proper seats. Freeze because by the time they figured it out, they were up in a press box to an interview with the rest of the team. I thought it was great. The guys that were there. I mean, that third baseman guy, uh, how you pronounce his name? Oh, oh, come on. Yeah. He's up there sucking on a beer with a hat on great. That third baseman guy. That's what I'm going to every time I see that guy play this. Well, you know, think about it. The bottom line is I've had a, I've been, I've breached some names in the past and I didn't want to take a shot at it because it usually results in that post. Yeah, it's a, I get a post meeting with the boss. So I wasn't going to take a shot. I was willing to go the other guy before I took him

7:29down. The good thing for you, feuds is that nobody can pronounce ucopeca luconin. So that one you're okay with. Don't even try. Don't even try. No, uh, the Rangers gave a pretty good effort last night. And they end up losing to the Toronto Maple. He's like, as a, like, I know leaf fans right now are definitely in their feelings because they're going like, well, where was this type of effort when we needed it back in December and January? And now they're seeing it with the shackles off like futon alluded to, um, I don't know, like, when you mean shackles off, what do you mean? Like, there's no pressure to play in these games because, yeah, yeah, I don't mean anything for them. If you're trying to evaluate this team, when you look at it, how many changes realistically, does this team need to make in order to be anywhere near a playoff team next year? Well, you know what? I just think that, uh, it's, it's a good question. I mean, look, they, they need some energy. There's no question about it. Um, you know, I, obviously, I think

8:30Callan got a lot of credit this week for what he did and he deserves it. Um, took on a much bigger guy. Um, I think that's kind of the thing that everybody was looking forward to seeing or wanted to see. You know, I think that, uh, I definitely think the team has to get faster. I think they have to, I mean, a lot of this is going to depend on, you know, what, you know, what Matt, how Matthews looks, what he decides to do. Like, I think a lot of the decisions are probably going to be made for them. You know, how did guys feel after this year? How does some of the exit meeting go go? What, what does some guys want to do? But the bottom line is the mix they have it is, it is going to be different. Like, you know, I also think and I know that he's not like a long-term solution, but I really, I would love to hear what Tana has to say. Yeah. You know, like, because the, you know, they were struggling this year already, but he's such an important part of the team, both breaking the puck out of

9:34the zone. We all know he's a good passer. And I think his presence, the injuries he suffered this year, him being out, you know, I, I think it's been a huge loss for them, like in the room. And I just think the big question is going to be like, when they have their exit meetings in a couple of weeks, you know, how does everybody feel? You know, is everybody happy? Does anybody want to go anywhere? And then, of course, the decisions are going to be made about, you know, the front office and the coaching staff. Like, this is going to be an offseason of change in Toronto. And they're definitely not going to be coming back the same. I think what's still to be determined is what this is all going to look like. Is that so? Is that something? Obviously, you never know when these kind of meetings are taking place, but I agree with you're free. It's just, this team needs to be if they even, if they keep the Matthews, they, they have to be insulated in that dressing room better than they are. By, by certain, whether it's a few individuals. And again, I think they've

10:37put themselves in a situation. Now there's no room. Maybe they were at that stage last year, and that's the problem. But there's no more room for error on who they bring in, what they bring in, the type of player, how they evaluate their cap space. And I agree, because like TANF is probably one of those blue guys, right? And he hasn't been in there. You're like, okay? Who me? Is that you? Rezipin' up a bag? Yeah, I know. I was actually, I just want to go out, like, I like to walk while I do the show. And I was a bit late. And I just want to go out, my wife says it's raining, but I just want to go out and see it. See the rain? Well, I'm coming on my rain jacket. You know, you can just look out the window if you wanted to see the rain. No, you know what? You've got to go out and experience everything. You've got to feel it. Yeah, go barefoot too while you're at it. No, I'm not wearing any socks, but I've got some shoes on. Oh, great. 11:37finding is. So I was at my gym the other day. And this guy comes out to me and he's, he's, he's younger. He's a teenager. He says, Hey, I was one of those guys who yelled at you. You were on the show the other day. Like, great. That was great. Try to keep it a bit quieter next time. Well, that's part of the show. That's we, if we had no outside noise, it would not be the same. No, but this right now, the passion of people like that, none of us have jobs. No, no, I was saying, I was talking to my, like, just mentioning to a friend of mine, he's a massive leaf fan. He goes, this is great, right? And I said to myself, this is for me, this is like, you've got a baseball player that's been over 20 with runners in scoring position as you're trying to clinch playoff spot. And then the after it goes up that you're out. And this guy comes up and hits a home run and does a bat flip. No, you know what it is, though, Mike, I think like, like, I always think about like how I would act in such situations and, you know, that game against Anaheim and what happened

12:38with Matthews and the outcry after that. It was like a lock bottom, right? Yep. And I think, you know, you still have what 20 games after that point or 15, whatever it is. And, you know, what are you going to do just play out the string? Like, you're a pro player. And I bet you, that's what a lot of those guys were thinking. It was like no matter how bad this year has been and how disappointing it is. You just, you want, like, I think for a pride takes over. These guys are in the NHL for a reason because they're committed and they're, they're competitive guys. And at some point in time, I think you just say, you know what, especially in a market like this one where you've got to face the Q&A every day, you know, you just say through it. I'm, I'm, I'm not going near the summer feeling like crap. At least that's how I would feel. And I bet you there's a few guys in there that feel that way. Oh, I hope so. Like that, that's, you got to be, like, some, these guys are still playing for something, right? Austin and they, they earned that game. Yeah. And they beat, and they beat the Rangers and they earned that game. And there's definitely

13:39guys in there who are like, you know what, I mean, Cowan's a perfect example. I think he deserves a lot of credit for taking on the store off the other night. But, you know, he had, we, we talked about this. Like he wasn't playing before the deadline. We had the theory that after the deadline, he was going to get to play a lot of the, you know, like he's getting a chance to, to show something. And I bet you that. I mean, even though the season's hard, I bet you that energy is enthusiastic for some of those guys. Pretty cool moment at the Sabers game last night. Rasmus Thaline's fiance was shown on the jumbo tron Carolina after having a heart transplant. Like these are, it's been a really rough year for Rasmus Thaline and his fiance. But, you know, the Sabers, okay, they don't get the result. But that was a really fun game last night. Just when you think, you know, the Bruins have the lead. And then it's two quick goals by the Sabers. And then the Bruins tie it and Zach Owens and over time, like this Bruins team is maybe, like, okay, the Buffalo Sabers are a big surprise. But we always thought that the talent was there. We just couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. I didn't have the Bruins anywhere near the playoffs

14:42based on where they were kind of rebuilding this thing or retooling whatever you want to call it. But you got to give a lot of credit to Marco Sturman, that group for what they've been able to get out of out of this team because I feel like they're squeezing every last drop out of what they can get here. Yeah, I agree with that. I mean, you know, a couple of things there. You know, I am very loyal to my close friend, David Amhert. And I am very loyal to sports net. But I will confess, I was drifting away from least Rangers to watch. Oh, I don't know. Yes, we all go to the same confessional because I am very, very loyal today, who is a good friend, a great personality. But, you know, I was watching that last night. You know, as you guys know, I was in Buffalo on Tuesday. We were taping some stuff for the Sabers and the playoffs. And we interviewed Dalline and, you know, he doesn't talk about it that much about what happened with his fiance. And, but he was, you know, he was clearly, he did say he was glad to have her here,

15:44as anybody would expect. The guys, but I'll tell you this, the other guys we talked to, and we talked to Lindy Roth, and we talked to Josh Don, we talked to Josh Norris. They just rave about Dalline. And one of the things that Roth talked about in particular and that was that he cannot believe how good Dalline has been this year, considering everything that's been going on around him. He can't say enough great things about what a person he is and what a player he is. And he said something that I have heard before, but I've kind of forgotten is that in situations like this, where you're going through a really difficult thing in your personal life, sometimes being on the ice is like it's peace, right? Like you don't have to think it's what you know, it's what you love is hockey. And in that moment, where you're on the ice and you're practicing, you're practicing or you're playing, you're in your happy place. And you kind of

16:48talked about that being the case for Dalline this year. And I'll say the other thing too is the day we were there was the day they presented the trailer to their trainer, George Babcock, for 2500 games. And that came on the middle of practice and Dalline was one of the last guys on the ice. And apparently that's pretty normal for him. I haven't seen a lot of Saver's practices this year, but he's a guy who stays on the ice a long time and he really works. And you know, rough said that he thinks that's one of the things that's helped Dalline get through the challenges. He's hit him in his fiancee if he's off the ice is just how passionate he is about the game and how it provides him an escape when he's out there. Anyway, the Bruins, I wanted to share all that. Anyway, the Bruins, you know, I'll say this. When I hear about Mason McTavish having a really rough year and I've said this in written this a lot last week, I think of Jeremy Swain in the last year. Jeremy Swainman had a really nightmare year last year. For a lot of different

17:51reasons, his relationship with the Bruins went sideways, really ugly contracts, showed up on the eve of the season, had a terrible season. This summer, no distractions got back to work. He's had a fantastic year. As far as I'm concerned, he's been one of the best goalies in the league this year and it all starts with gold pendant. But I think too, you know, the Bruins had a lot of the change last year. You know, Pastor Knock is to me, he's a heart tropey kind of player. A lot of their guys have had really good years. But the other thing is, you know, I mean, there's a lot of talk obviously about the trade they made for Toronto. But the other thing too is is they made some smart short moves like Alex these really good fine for them. Who's Netinov? Really good fine for them. Like sometimes it's not the big moves you made, but it's also the small ones. And well, the Bruins and their scouting and development staff, they had a really good year. They found some pieces and they and guys who will, but the big thing to me is Swainman. And it's just a reminder that

18:53you don't throw the baby out with the bath water. If a good player has a bad year, you better make sure that it's just one year and don't get rid of the guy and you find out you're doing away someone who just had a one-off year. It's amazing that you say that two freeds and I and I agree 100 percent because when you and I'll bring the Pittsburgh penguins into it as well, is because you'd make a really good argument. It's like a really an argument that Boston and Pittsburgh, who were teams I had on the outside looking in, had they had the best proscouted offseason with regards to the yeah. Just as you said, they weren't all, you know, shiny, big, shiny pieces, incredible names, but the the additions they made to their culture and their chemistry have been critical. And it's amazing how they went from kind of what thought would be, I mean, obviously, the leadership under Crosby and Pastronic too, and McAvoy, but and great goal-tending. But to think of the pieces they've added, both of them

19:54have just hit home runs. Yeah, you know, I think it's just, you know, that's why I think, you know, there's a lot of talk about, you know, can you do scouting? However you do scouting, you've got to do it right. And like, I really do think it's like, we always talk about the big signings like, you know, obviously like the Capri sauce of the world. Like, those are the drivers, the guys that get Queen Hughes, like, those are the drivers, but those support pieces, those those filling guys that you find, maybe they get a one-year contract here, a one-year contract there, they fill a spot for you here. I mean, those are the ones like, it's like I, you talk to agents like the easy clients or the guys are going to sign you the big deals. The hard ones are the guys that got to grind to find jobs for, right? And it's the same thing for for managers. Like, sometimes the easy one is saying, oh, I want, I want to even Pastinock, I want Capri's off. Oh, well, everybody does. Can you find the guy that maybe doesn't click

20:59somewhere else that, that clicks for you when you say, wow, what a fine for us. Perfect for us. Yeah, and I'll get another name, and we've had them on the show. And this goes back to the Buffalo Sabers and giving Yarmul Kekalainen and his staff is to quietly under the radar, add Sam Carrick. Perfect fit. Who's just been perfect fit, right? Yeah. Carrick excellent. But even too, like the trade they made for Paturka, you know, unfortunately, it hasn't really worked out for Castle Ring, but boy, Josh Don, like, what does find he's been for them? Oh, he's going to be a star, but I mean, just at the day, just at the day, again, just a name that people are waiting for, you know, we're waiting for Robert Thomas and Trollcheck and all these big names. And obviously, these are different level guys, but at a guy that's probably the most, uh, understands his role as a fourth line center. We'll fight. He takes your critical draws and he makes like 1.25 or 1.5. Like it's, but that guy immediately has made an impact on a nightly basis there. And he's played in big playoff games.

22:02He went, he even though he wasn't a huge part of it, he was on one of those long runs with the Oilers in and out of the lineup, but he's been on one of those runs because the next step for me, there's been some of those games with the Buffalo Sabers and we go back to them is that you're like, oh, you know, here it comes. Like, is that game against Tampa? Are they getting a little less and taught to them tonight? And then all of a sudden, it's eight seven, right? So these guys can clearly go back and forth with teams, but the next big test is going to whether they're in the second, like the two three spot or the first spot is that first playoff game is going to be, it'll be heightened, right? Yeah. Like if something goes wrong, how are they going to respond? Because this is somewhat new for all of them or they're just going to be this team. They've been for the last three months and keep on flying on at the same exciting effort that they put forth on a nightly basis. You know, if I would, if I was, if I was Lindy Ruff and thankfully for Lindy Ruff, I am not him. But if I was Lindy Ruff, I'd be going in there like, hey guys,

23:04there was a time this year we were looking like we're going to make the playoffs. We're playing with house money. Let's just go enjoy our time. Do you think, but freezing, I don't mean to, because the whole talk of that dressing room has been, and maybe you can combine the two, but their whole my understanding is after Garma went in there, it was like, hey, why not us? Why can't we win, why can't we win the cup this year? I mean, I think they do have house money, but I think there's a different, that's part of what, why they're playing. They believe that they can win the Stanley Cup. They're, they're, they're good. Again, like as long as the goal heading holds up, like they're, like that, I'll say this, the Norris this year is going to be a fascinating vote. Really fascinating vote. Yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, like, Werencky, Hughes, McCard, Darlene. Yeah, I mean, it's a writer, yeah. Not for one, because if they miss the playoffs, like it's, it's really, I mean, I think it's only happened twice where someone's missed the playoffs in one, uh, uh, Norris. I think it was

24:09Carlisle out of Fox. And, you know, by, you know, like it in Fox's case, there wasn't really another dominating presence there. Um, you know, I, I think it would be hard for Sutter to win it. It's a Troy. I didn't get in, but boy, that's, I, I was just looking at some of the votes yesterday. Like to me, the, the hard is kind of, like you, you can feel the 18 Wheeler and going in, in Couture-Ros direction, right? Um, so I can, I think they, I think he's the guy, at least for me, and I think a lot of other voters, but at least the ones I've talked to, but the Norris one, that's going to be the challenge. When you see that, when you see that version of Booshard, it's, it's safer, like, I know Seneca's had a really good year, but I don't know. I don't know how you stopped Shaefer from winning that thing. You think, I mean, the other night, and I mean, obviously, there's still some, there's still some runway left for the season, but I thought the other night for all the time we

25:10just kind of, and the inconsistencies, I thought, Evan Booshard was just outstanding against him. He was really good. You know, Booshard was really good. And, um, you know, I, I just thought, you know, it's rare. I thought the others were really simple. Yeah, just get the puck out, get it out. Uh, Brad Marstow, I thought they played, I, I, I, I, I thought they were really good, you know, that, that, to hold that Utah team, I don't know what they ended up with, but I was limber in the third. It was 16 to have that, that's a really fast skilled team to hold them like that for most of that game. That was a good accomplishment. Uh, Vancouver Canucks fans, they've already had to deal with a very tough year, um, with the, the direction the team is going, they're in a rebuild. And now fans are not happy because they are raising season ticket prices. Like this is a real risky proposition. Um, I didn't understand that economic times are tough for a lot of people right now. But if you're a team in the middle of a rebuild, that's a really

26:11tough sell to your fan base. Well, I always say this, you know, I hope you know what you're doing. Like, yeah, since the Rangers just came out there, saw Molly Walker had a story that they're not raising ticket prices because they didn't make playoffs. Um, so, you know, people always use that as a comparable, right? Um, you know, I, I just, I, I just look at it this way. Um, you know, teams have data. Uh, these decisions aren't made in a vacuum. Uh, they have data to tell them what they think they can do. And we'll find out if they're right. You know, if people are not happy with it, um, then the, the connox will find that out very quickly. Okay. So I also, I'll see this too. Like, you know, here's the thing. Like without talking anybody there, I haven't talked anybody there about this. But if they win the lottery and they draft the camp, do you think that, do you think that the ticket price rate raise matter? And I don't like to, you're totally right.

27:15Like, people are going through a tough time. I'm not, I'm not making, I'm not poking any shots at that. I recognize how challenging life is right now. But if they win the lottery and they get mechanized, you think that they can do it. Uh, only if they lower the price of gas. Uh, I mean, like, it's like, I don't know, like I just, teams have dreams of data that says to them. This is what we think we can do. So I always assume that they think if the team makes a choice like this, they have data that tells them they can do it. But like I said, uh, people, the, what's going to happen in Vancouver is people are going to show them what the rangers aren't doing. And they're going to say, how come they get this new that this? Or maybe a way to the draft is over. And you might have an easier sell if it doesn't fold that way. You guys, uh, you guys, uh, was it last night? We've got an ounce. May 5th. Glory. Yep. Yeah. So, so my, my early game, I think is going to, is going to have to be, I think it's probably Blue Jackets Canadians, although Penguin Sanders, that's going to be a flick back and forth. Yeah, it's a flicker. That's, that's a, that's a, that's a, that's a John Fuda. That's a John Fuda. Um, well, no, you got to add the family feud. You know, oil, oilers, golden nights is a massive game. Yeah. Yeah. It's like that, that, the pillow fight division is just, I love how it's now taken on it. It's so good. Uh, well, it's because the guy who said it, right? It's like, McDavid says, we need to take a look at how we do player safety and everybody's talking about player safety, right? McDavid calls it the pillow fight division. And now you know, at some point, the playoffs, there's going to be a fan base with pillows everywhere. So we figured it out.
