Arab City Hit by Phishing Scam, $432K Stolen

Scammers pulled off a clever trick by pretending to be from fighting construction, the company building the new recreation center, and convinced officials to send payments their way. No personal details, employee records, or citizen data were exposed in the breach which was limited to a single invoice transaction. Local police, state investigators, the FBI, Homeland Security, and the Secret Service have all jumped in to track down the culprits. Mayor Bob Jocelyn says the city is pushing to recover every penny and has rolled out tougher checks and safeguards.
