For this month's MIM talk, the spirited topic of drinking songs from around the world. We'll discuss the social music of global pubs and teahouses before heading into the galleries for a uniquely curated getaway tour to see related exhibits. Next, immerse yourself in the fusion of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and jazz improvisation at Celebrate Latin Jazz on Saturday and Sunday, April 11 and 12. Enjoy two days of exciting Latin beats, from golden age classics to futuristic grooves, while discovering the culture and history behind the genre through live performances, engaging lectures, and dance workshops. Leading up to the event on Sunday, April 5, MIM is also hosting Jazz in Bloom, a spring brunch, accompanied by live music from the duo Pete Pancrasie and Todd Johnson for a perfect springtime gathering. Then, we have two events in conjunction with our special exhibition, The Magical Flute, Beauty, Enchantment, and Power. First, there's a curator tour of the exhibition on Thursday,

April 16 at 2pm, offering guests expert insight into this once-in-a-lifetime collection of more than 100 remarkable flutes from the dawn of music to the present day. Then, on Friday, April 17 at 2pm, guests can catch a flute Friday showcase featuring Michelle Stoper, the principal flute of the West Valley Symphony, with Andrea Fenig on Piano. The theme is Legends and Spirits, setting up to be an enchanting performance. The fun continues throughout the month with our World Choir Workshop on Thursday, April 23, where guests can learn about the Alpine Yodeling tradition and sing the folk song Kufstiner Lied, then take a guided visit to the Switzerland, Germany, and Austria exhibits.
