I'm Mike Hempon with an AP Newsmen in. Stocks fell on Wall Street and Treasury yields rose after a surprisingly strong report of a job market appeared to increase chances that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates later this month. The S&P 500 lost 0.4%. The Dow was down half a point, then asked at composite gave back 0.3. The government reports US employers added 162,000 jobs to their payrolls last month far more than expected. That could give the Federal Reserve leeway to raise its benchmark short term interest rate to fight inflation. A Massachusetts judge declared a mistrial in the murder case against Lindsay Clancy. jurors could not agree on whether she was criminally responsible when she strangled her three young children in 2023. The mistrial leaves the case unresolved and allows prosecutors to try Clancy again. She had faced life in prison without parole if convicted. I'm Mike Hempon.
