I'm Adonnihue with an AP News Minute. After President Trump pledged to give every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retained control of the House and the Senate in the midterms, the president said this about people who enrolled in the Affordable Care Act. Nearly 1 million hard work in Americans in 30 states will soon be getting refunds of $500 each, where they check sent to their home address. In many cases, these refunds will cover the entire spike in your insurance cost by Democrats. The White House claims these people were overcharged by the Biden administration for exchange fees, and rollees who can expect refunds are those who do not receive premium assistance. Critics call them move a gimmick that doesn't represent a plan for addressing soaring healthcare cost. It's not clear where the money for the rebates would come from, and whether it requires congressional approval for disbursement. More information at APnews.com I'm Adonnihue.
