Anniston PD Gets $15K Drone Grant, Boosts Public Safety

This all-weather model costs $16,000 and lets officers fly it in rain, snow, or any tough conditions. Chief William Clint Paris explained that the old drones stayed grounded during bad weather, but crime keeps going regardless. Now they can deploy this one anytime to get eyes on situations faster and safer. The department is ramping up its drone program with a clear goal in mind. By October, Paris wants a drone and trained operator ready for every shift, including detective work. Across Central Alabama, other agencies are leaning on drones too. Birmingham plans wider use by next year for better call responses, while Shelby County equips each patrol squad with two drones and operators for, daily ops.
