In the early morning hours of Monday, April 17, 2023 around 12:30 a.m., the Department of Public Safety received a 9-1-1 call of a vehicle on fire on interstate 10 outside of Tonopah, Arizona. The Fire Department extinguished the fire and found 22-year-old Mercedes Vega inside deceased. This vehicle fire quickly became a homicide investigation.
