About this episode
Amy Annette has been described by the Guardian as a ‘delight to behold’. Her debut hour 'Thick Skin' was a total sell-out at Edinburgh and was nominated for Best New Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival. Prior to stand-up, she was an experienced producer, script editor and editorial consultant - and is currently working on the comedy drama, Pretty Face. She’s now back with Say What You Like About Me at Edinburgh this summer. We discuss:
- how Amy’s dual citizenship shaped her sense of humour
- how working with Amy Poehler's production company helped her unlearn needing to justify her right to space
- becoming aware of an audience's gaps in cultural knowledge
- why long development processes doesn't mean things are going badly
- how reviews describe women's comedy as "vibe" while crediting men's comedy as craft
- and we find out if Amy is happy...
