There were endless political campaigns to limit their rights and queer people were constantly targeted for violence. Then, in 1991, a twisted serial killer began stalking the gay bars of New York City. He took men home, murdered them, and dismembered their bodies, scattering their remains by road sides and unforests. For a while, few people paid attention to the murders, and those who did notice what was happening were met with an apathetic local police force. As the death count rose higher, so did the panic.
