American Cardinal Declares You Will Own Nothing And Be Happy

0:00Carl McAroy made the news. And whenever he does, it's not usually good. If you don't know him, he is the Cardinal Archbishop of Washington, DC. And he was made the arch, he was put in that post after like two days or so after the election of President Trump in 2024. And since then, he has taken every opportunity to be kind of the USCCB's point bishop on challenging the president and his actions. And there's a reason for that. The Cardinal McAroy, for as much as I disagree with him on virtually every issue, he is far and away the most intelligent among them. And I do not mean that to denigrate the rest of the bishops. I mean the man is extraordinarily sharp and you should take it the things he says very seriously. He's not some doofas who may be who managed to become a Cardinal or a bishop because of Brown nosing. He is a very sharp mind.

1:02He is a very dangerous adversary. And I hate to think of bishops as adversaries, but here we are. It's paragraph 2402 for those who still have a physical copy of quite possibly the worst Catechism ever published in the history of the church. I know that will shock many people, but the Cardinal who put it together for John Paul II back in the 1990s when it was published said this thing is a garbage heap and will need to be edited severely. And it has been just not the way he asked for because when Francis started blathering on about the Capitol punishment and trying to change church teaching on it, he had to change the Catechism change reflect his opinion on it, which Capitol punishment was something the church has always been

5:18okay with always and rooted in scripture. You can't change the church's teaching on it. But anyway, paragraph 2402. In the beginning, God entrusted the earth and its resources to the common stewardship of mankind to take care of them, master them by labor and enjoy their fruits. The goods of creation are destined for the whole human race. However, the earth is divided up among men to assure the security of their lives, endangered by poverty and threatened by violence. The appropriation of properties legitimate for guaranteeing the freedom and dignity of persons and for helping each of them to meet his basic needs and the needs of those in his charge. It should be allowed for natural solidarity to develop between men. Private property doesn't divide us. It actually helps foster solidarity because it kind of curbs a lot of the competition for survival by having private property. The right to private property acquired by work or received from others by inheritance or gift

6:18does not do away with the original gift of the earth to the whole of mankind. The universal destination of goods remains primordial. Even if the promotion of the common good requires respect for the right to private property and its exercise. In his use of things, man should regard the external goods he legitimately owns not merely as exclusive to himself but common to others also. In a sense that they can benefit others as well as himself. That does not mean that he loses property. It means that with your property, you should look to ways that can benefit other people. This is charity. This is sustainable. This is solidarity. The old Catholic value of problems should be handled by the most local unit possible. And the most local unit is you helping your neighbor. Right? That's the most local unit imaginable is you helping your neighbor or you helping your family first. The ownership of any property makes its holder a steward or of providence with the task of making it fruitful and communicating its benefits to others first of all his family.

7:23Anybody got a problem with this? I don't think I doubt it. Goods of production, material or immaterial such as land, factories, practical or artistic skills oblige their possessors to employ them in ways that will benefit the greatest number. Those who hold goods for use and consumption should use them with moderation, reserving the better part for guests for the sick and the poor. Being you're expected to do charity. If you have abundance, you're expected to do charity. That's not a radical concept for Christians. Political authority has the right and duty to regulate the legitimate exercise of the right to ownership for the sake of the common good.
