Alps Tragedies: Snowboarder, Skier Lose Lives

0:00On March 31st, a British snowboarder in his 40s plunged 330 feet from a rocky ledge and an off-piece zone near Lapland. In the French Alps, and sadly, he didn't survive. This happened around 2.15 pm on March 28th when ski patrol got the alert about a missing 43-year-old skier last seen near the Beacoin Lifts. Rescue teams rushed in with mountain experts, but they could only recover his body by helicopter. Meanwhile, over the weekend in Austria, another tourist named Federico Jubilato, who was about to turn 42, got buried in an 800, 20-foot wide avalanche while skiing off-piece. His friend escaped and called for help, but it was too late to save him. These tragedies hit hard amid a brutal ski season across the Alps. In France alone, more than 30 people have died in avalanches since winter started, with 31 other deaths from collisions and accidents at, about 50 resorts per safety reports. At least four brits have perished in European avalanches this year due to heavy snow and

1:03unstable layers. Earlier incidents paint a grim picture too. Back on February 17th near French Resort, two off-piece skiers, a Polish man and a British national, died in an avalanche that struck there, group. Just days before, two more brits, 46-year-old Stuart Leslie and 51-year-old Sean Overy, plus a French skier, lost their lives in vow.
