Alabama Woman Pleads Guilty to $10M Theft

A 56-year-old woman from Vance, Alabama, has agreed to a plea deal after being accused of stealing more than $10 million from her. Long-time employer, Laura Lynn Tucker faces charges of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft for misusing company credit cards over several years. She worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for a pawn management firm in Calera starting back in 2000. From February 2020 until December 2024, she racked up massive personal charges on cards meant for business, including ones, assigned to her and others. The theft hit the small company hard, draining resources they could not afford to lose. Officials say the scheme involved careful tracking to hide the spending until it was uncovered. In the deal, Tucker will plead guilty to all seven counts and pay back just over $9.6 million in restitution. That covers most of what was taken.
