Alabama's Weather: From Cold to Warm, Then Freeze

The risk of severe thunderstorms in Alabama has ended, with the storms moving out of the southeast corner shortly after 5 a.m. Light rain lingers. In eastern South parts just before daybreak, but it will clear out soon. Expect a breezy and cooler day today with clearing skies and highs staying in the 50s across north Alabama, even with some sunshine returning. Tonight brings clear and cold conditions, with temperatures dropping into the 30s over the northern 3rd of the state by early tomorrow morning, where scatter frost could form. South Alabama will see lows in the 40s. Tomorrow and Saturday look mostly sunny with warming temperatures, highs reaching 65 to 75 degrees tomorrow and 73 to 83 on Saturday afternoon. Sunday stays partly sunny and warm, with highs in the 70s and 80s, and just a chance of isolated afternoon showers, though most areas remain dry.

Much colder air follows, with highs in the upper 40s in the Tennessee Valley on Monday and Tuesday, and a late season freeze likely Tuesday and Wednesday mornings across the northern 2-3rds of the state, lows between 24 and 34 degrees.
