Welcome to Birmingham News today, two minutes of news that matter to Birmingham. A key player for the Alabama Crimson Tide basketball team is facing serious charges after a drug bust. 21-year-old junior Aiden Holloway was arrested Monday morning when narcotics agents searched a home on the 400 block of 30th, Avenue East in Tuscaloosa. They found more than one pound of marijuana, drug pair fornellia, and cash. Holloway now faces first degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax-stam charges. He was booked into Tuscaloosa County jail, with bonds set at $5,000. This comes right after a big moment for the team, as the Crimson Tide earned a number four seed in the Midwest region of the NCAA tournament. Just one day earlier, Holloway, from North Carolina, is in his second season with Alabama and serves as their second leading scorer this year, with 471 points. So far, University officials have not commented on Holloway's status with the team, and the case is ongoing as he awaits his next court appearance.
