Alabama Basketball Faces Hofstra Without Suspended Guard

0:00On March 21st, Alabama's men's basketball team is heading to Tampa, Florida for the first round of the NCAA tournament. The fourth-seated Crimson Tide Phase 13-seated Hofstra on Friday at 2.15pm. Central time on True TV. But they'll be missing a key player, Guard Aiden Holloway, who's been suspended after an arrest earlier this week. Holloway was taken into custody on Monday, March 16, by the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force. Officials found about two pounds of marijuana, some paraphernalia, and cash in his possession. He faced charges of first-degree possession, and failure to attach a tax stamp. He posted a $5,000 bond, and was released while awaiting a court date. The University of Alabama quickly removed Holloway from campus, and launched an investigation through its student conduct office. Coach Nate Oates addressed it on his radio show, stressing the program's high standards for accountability. Some issues stayed private, but this one required public action.

1:01Holloway has been the team's second leading scorer this season, putting up 16.8 points per game, along with nearly four assists and three rebounds. His sharp shooting from beyond the arc at over 43% made him a big part of their offense. With the tournament underway, Alabama must adapt on the fly without him as they chase a deep run in March madness.
