Airport Officer Kicks Suspect in Self-Defense

0:00On April 21st, PC Zachary Marsden, an armed officer at Manchester Airport, told a jury he kicked a suspect in the face because pulling his glock. This happened in July 2024, at a car park pay station, where 21-year-old Muhammad Fahir Amaz had just assaulted two female officers, breaking one nose. Earlier, Amaz a headbutt at a passenger in a star-buff's cafe, leading officers to chase him down. In the scuffle, he punched an elbow the women before grappling with Marsden, who said he feared for his life amid the chaos. Amaz ended up with bruises, jaw pain, and post-concussion syndrome after hospital treatment. His mother jumped in to protect him, complicating the arrest, and backup finally helped cuff him using two sets of handcuffs linked together. Marsden explained the kickstun to my A's to buy time for control, and a follow-up stamp pinned his radio wire for backup calls, not revenge, despite getting punched.

Amaz and his 26-year-old brother Amaz, both from Rochdale, denied assaulting Marsden with actual bodily harm. Amaz was already convicted last year for the Starbucks attack, and hitting the officers, the trial rolls on at Liverpool Crown Court.
