We’ve all learned the hard way that many people who ask for advice don’t actually want counsel they want confirmation. They’ve already chosen their path, and if it succeeds, they take the credit; if it collapses, they blame the “advisers” who never advised them in the first place. Scripture explains why this happens: fools “would none of my counsel; they despised all my reproof” (Prov. 1:30). If people refuse to hear God, they certainly won’t hear us. That’s why good advice so often goes nowhere in our age men prefer their own will, and then resent God when their choices fail. Absalom’s downfall came this way: rejecting godly counsel, he embraced the advice that destroyed him. The lesson is simple and sobering: if you want the worst counsel, follow your own heart; if you want wisdom, listen to the Lord.

Over the years, I've learned that all too many people who ask for advice don't really want it. They've already decided what they'll do and they come to you for confirmation, not contradiction. If all goes well, they take credit for their wisdom. If things go badly, they blame you for the bad console. Just recently, I heard that both my name and that of another man were being used by someone to justify a course of action. Neither of us gave any such console. The man simply told us what he planned to do and all we did was to listen politely. When he ran into criticism, he said it asks us his advisors and his justification. All of us, however, need advice and the best place to get it is clearly from Scripture.
1:03The necessary word for us all to heed and to take to heart is God's word. Of all fools, God says. They would none of my console. They despised all my reproof, Proverbs 130. If man won't hear God, they certainly will not hear us. This is why good advice gets nowhere in our time. Man who block out the word of God make themselves open only to ungodly and foolish console. In every generation, this is finally a reason for the downfall of an God-demanded tyrants. Absolute field in his revolt, because God blinded him to astute consulars and he listened rattly to a man working for David. Second Samuel 17, 1-23. Our reason for refusing to listen to God or to godly man is our greater love for our own will and way. We say in effect, my will be done and any advice which goes against our will is rejected.
2:05We follow our word and then blame God if we run into trouble. For the worst possible advice listened to your own will and hearts for some counsel, hear the Lord.
