Adley right at home in Baltimore; PCA homers again

And you know what Dorothy taps her Ruby Red slippers together and says, there's no place I call them. There's no place I call them. Well, I'm pretty sure Adley Rutchman did the same thing for his first game back in Baltimore on Thursday. Maybe with some Ruby Red Sox slippers. Here's everything that happened in baseball yesterday and under 10 minutes. Let's get to it.

1:01Adley Rutchman had a Baltimore homecoming for the ages. Adley Rutchman was originally drafted first overall by Baltimore in the 2019 draft. He was a three time all-star for the Yos and a fan favorite. But earlier this season, he was dealt to the AL East rival Red Sox. He of course has a standing ovation when he returned to camping yards in a Boston uniform on Thursday night. But once he hit the ball, Baltimore fans were cheering just a little bit less. One one from Young and Rutchman. Since this one to deep right field, it is returning goes deep. His 38th career home run at Captain Yards is first as a member of the Boston Red Sox. And then in the top of the sixth, Adley again. Oh, this one is trailed by Rutchman. His second home run tonight. Welcome back to Baltimore, Adley Rutchman. Rutchman is the second player, second since at least 1900,

2:02to change teams and home more multiple times in his first career game against that former team in the same season. Ose fans must feel like he never left. But no, he did. And now he's hitting Dingers against you. Nick Sogart and Roman Anthony added two more homers to give the socks a six to five win. The Ose are now a game and a half behind that third Wildcard spot. Are Vlad Jr. and the Blue Jays getting hot at the exact right time? The Blue Jays haven't looked great for most of this season. But it doesn't really matter because they're in the AL Wildcard race, where nobody has played really great. But on Thursday, they beat the Guardian six to three to wrap a key series win in Cleveland. They're not just a half game behind the Guardians for the final Wildcard spot. And they have the tiebreaker if the two finish tied on the last day of the year. Nathan Lucas had two hits and two RBIs while Vlad Jr. had a sack fly and played exceptional defense at first face. He also had a couple balls about a thousand miles per hour this year.

3:02And if he heats up, the Jays could come back and run away with this thing. Jose Soriano gave up just three runs over four and two thirds innings. Lucas talked to sports nets Hazel made post game about the victories. It doesn't, doesn't matter where, where we are, who we're playing. Doesn't matter what the standings are right now, which is our goal is to win and win as many games as possible. Yep, that'll work. Julio Rodriguez has a power speed combo nobody's ever had. In the eighth inning of the Mariners game against the A's on Thursday. Julio stole second base and etched his name into MLB history. Julio taken off the pitches low and Julio slides in and he's safe. Stolen base number 20 this year. His fifth consecutive 2020 campaign. And Julio becomes the first player in baseball history to begin a career with five strength 20, 20 seasons.

4:04It was Julio's third steal of the game, giving him 20 on the season to go along with 20 home runs. By doing so, he's the first player in baseball history to have 20, 20 seasons during the first five years of his career. Bobby with Junior will join him if he can hit four more homers this season. If Julio can do that for the next 10 years, they'll have some pretty decent numbers. Unfortunately, the Mariners lost to the A's 7-4. It's a tough loss after seemingly gaining some traction during their series when in Boston. They're 4.5 games back of that final wildcard spot, but maybe probably too many teams in front of them. Coming up, you can't spell MVP without PCA. I mean, I guess you actually do spell it without most of those letters. Whatever, you get the idea. Let's talk more about it after the break. 5:06On the day of the news that Dave Roberts said he might rest NL MVP contender, Shoheo Tani, more down the stretch than I've ever been ready for the postseason. Pete Crow Armstrong, the other NL MVP contender, said, I don't need no rest. He bolst is one deep to center field for a signature back to the track at the wall. Basketball gone to run shot. Number 39 on the year for PCA. He now has a 12-73 OPS over his last seven days. That's pretty good. The two run shot was all the cubs needed. They actually only had three total hits and they're two to one win. Kevin Gossman, who's been brilliant for Chicago, shook out nine over seven one run innings. Logan Henderson for the Brewers was also great, but got the loss, giving up two runs over seven. Chicago split the four games set with Milwaukee and are still eight games back of the Brewers for first place.

6:06Can the Astros get the second overall seed in the AL? Houston beat the White Sox Thursday's 62, mostly because of that guy Hunter Brown. Got him! Hunter Brown! Pick it up, strikeout number seven. A huge final for the innings as he deals against the White Sox for the second time this year or another quality start. Brown gave up just two runs over six innings with seven strikeouts. Jose El Tuve hit his 15th homer of the year while Dalton Varsho hit a two run triple. The Astros took three of four from the White Sox and are two games ahead of the Rangers for first place in the AL West. And now just a game and a half behind Chicago for the second best record in the AL, which as you probably know being such a great baseball fan would give them a first round by in the postseason. Are the big bad Astros back? Were rumors of their demise greatly exaggerated? Maybe. We'll see what happens the rest of September. And he hits a ball. Deep out to right. That is a chance.

7:08God! Boy's been waiting a long time for those big hits. And that two run homer makes it for nothing Rangers. El Sua around the league on Thursday. Corey Seeger hit his 14th homer and Cal Quattro was fantastic. Tossing seven for this innings while allowing just two hits and the Rangers six to nothing win over the race. They are now tied with the Blue Jays, and just a half game back of the Guardians for that final Wildcard spot and stayed too back confused for first place in the AL West. O'Neill Cruz had three walks in RBI in his steal and Jake Magnum had two runs and the Pirates five to two win over the Giants. Pittsburgh has now won five of their last six series and they are reportedly getting phenom Conor Griffin back tonight. There are still five back in the Wildcard with three teams in front of them. But am I saying there is a chance? I might be saying there is a chance. Carter Jensen hit his 22nd homer and added a triple in the Royal 7-3 win over the Marlins.

8:11With the loss Miami falls three games back of the final Wildcard spot in the panel. Dave Roberts gave Shojo Tani a rest day. Tommy Edmund put up four hits in the lead off spot in Teosker and Anna said a walkoff double. Tell the Dodgers salvage a sweep and beat the carnal street in two.
