And I, it's rich in greetings from my senior citizen apartment, and we want to encourage each other on this podcast to abide in Christ to be living a life rooted in Him, having faith in Him for salvation, and taking up a cross and following Him. I was reading in Acts 221, it says, everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Isn't that wonderful? I am so grateful that the Lord makes this invitation wide open. And we don't have to know all the answers. I used to think that I did, and when I started to learn more years later, after I was backslidden, and asked the Lord to forgive me, and I started learning about His great love, and how it's by faith alone in Christ and not at any work that I could ever do that I'm saved. Well, when I got to that point, I looked back at my first start walking with God many years ago, and I thought, well, maybe it really wasn't saved. And it's because I didn't really know all this stuff, but no one knows all this stuff.
It's a learning process. I think of what Jesus said. He said, no one can come to me unless the Father draws Him. So if you've been drawn to Christ and trusted Him for your salvation, you can count on that. God has opened your eyes and my eyes. We were in dark, and the light came, and only God can do that. Only God can rescue us from the darkness and the grips of the enemy. Now we have a choice, and we can also choose not to obey Christ, and through one situation or another, we can end up backslidden. But God still loves us, and like that prodigal son that Jesus spoke about, if we come to our senses, and come back, God will rush out and meet us just like the Father of the prodigal son in embraces. And that's the way it is, that's the love of God. I must confess I've learned more about the love of God through my personal failures than any other way.
I wish there could have been another way, but that's the way it's been for me. And I've come to Him and asked for His forgiveness for this or for that, and I go, my goodness, Christ paid the price for it all. I am so grateful, but everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Have you called on the name of the Lord? Well I encourage you to do that. It says, Psalm 86 verse 5, for you, O Lord, are good, and forgiving, abounding instead fast love to all who call upon you. Remember when the thief was on the cross, and he said to Jesus, remember me, when you come in your kingdom? And Jesus said to him, do you know the four spiritual laws, or do you know the points of Calvinism, or do you adhere to the doctrines of my Baptist church or whatever? No, he said, today you will be with me and paradise. You see, God let the thief see Christ for who He was, the Messiah, the Savior. And He brought him to Christ and Christ saved him.
It's the same way for you and me. Thank God you don't have to know all the answers. You just have to know Jesus, thank the Lord for that. And Jesus said, go there for it, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Get this teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, isn't that beautiful? So let's you and I do that. And you know, it says also, and this is in Romans 10, 12, there's no distinction between you and Greek, the same Lord as Lord. For all the storing riches on all who call on Him. So thank the Lord for this beautiful promise, too. So let's you and I continue to trust the Lord, believe that He saved us. And for those of you who are listening to this podcast and have not received His salvation, call out to Him and repent, ask for His forgiveness, and ask Him to forgive you of all your sins, and take up your cross and follow Him, and read the New Testament, and learn about Him.
All that's what I wanted to share with you. Thank God He loves sinners like you and me.
