About this episode
In this episode of The A to Z English Podcast, Jack reads about three ghostly stories that come from India.
India has a rich and diverse folklore of ghostly tales and supernatural legends. Here are three ghostly facts about India:
Bhangarh Fort - The Most Haunted Place in India: Bhangarh Fort, located in the state of Rajasthan, is often considered the most haunted place in India. It is surrounded by eerie stories of curses, a sorcerer's curse, and ghosts. According to legend, a curse was placed on the fort, leading to its abandonment. Visitors are not allowed inside the fort after dark, as it is believed to be a hub of paranormal activity.
Ajjaba - The Ghostly Mother: In some regions of Maharashtra, there is a belief in a supernatural entity known as "Ajjaba." Ajjaba is thought to be the spirit of a deceased mother who returns to protect her children. People believe that when Ajjaba is present, she ensures the safety of her children but may also seek revenge on those who harm them. She is a part of the rich folklore of the region.
Kuldhara - The Abandoned Ghost Village: Kuldhara is an abandoned village in the state of Rajasthan, and it is said to be haunted. According to local legends, the village was deserted overnight by its residents in the 19th century due to a curse. It is believed that those who attempted to settle in the village after its abandonment experienced paranormal activities and ghostly encounters, which led to its reputation as a haunted place.
These ghostly facts are just a glimpse of the supernatural folklore and legends that exist in India, contributing to the country's rich cultural tapestry of beliefs and superstitions.
