A Tip For Not Being a Jerk (w/ actor Josh Rivera)

0:00What's up, Tip and Dales? It's April and it's a Wednesday, which means we are back with a guest tip this Wednesday. Our guest tip for April is none other than stage and screen actor Josh Rivera. Josh is currently appearing in the Rocky Horror picture show on Broadway. You may recognize him from a bunch of other things you can find on his IMDB, but Josh, what is the tip to kick off the month? Not the month with be nice. Nobody wants to help an asshole. So that goes for customer service. That goes for service workers of all kinds. If you are rude, nobody's going to want to help you. Also, it's just in good form to make people feel good in general if you have the power to do so. And I used to work in the service industry and as a server, when you're rude to servers, like I'm not going to do anything drastic, but I'm going to make sure that your experience is kind of mid, you know, you're going to wait longer than other people who are nicer.

1:00So that's what I'll say. It's just good to be nice. That's so true. You look at your watch and you're like, all right, count to 45 before you run that plate. Just like make it a little bit worse. Let them see other stuff coming out once. How do you apply this to just like humans you run into in life? I don't know. I don't get into a lot of confrontations or anything like that. And if I do, it becomes a lot easier to reach a resolution because we have the baseline of that comfort established. But I don't know. I try to be nice to everybody. If they give me a reason not to be nice, I don't ever get mean. I just kind of get dismissive. But I think that's the worst I'll get as dismissive. Well, Tip and Dale's don't you get dismissive of this podcast because we're back here tomorrow with myself and co-host Ariel Nissenblatt. That's not actually true. She's traveling.
