Originally the term actually referred to a kind of socialism brought about by individuals within a nation ceding their freedom to a centralized state in order to "love their neighbor." Now, it refers to the idea that nations do exist, members of a nation ought to prioritize the needs of other members, and Christianity should be a fundamental characteristic of the nation.
