She and her partner, Chris Hunter, welcomed their son, Harmony Hunter, on August 2008. Sadly, baby Harmony passed away just hours later. On the same night he was born, Harmony was due on August 8th, but arrived at 42 weeks in 5 days' gestation. Pallanagara described the experience as birthing life and then birthing death, a journey she called incomprehensible. She mentioned her body feels broken and aches for her little boy. The couple expressed deep gratitude for the support they received from friends and their community. They also thanked the staff at Lismore Hospital and the Neo-Resky team for their tireless efforts to save Harmony, as well as Gold Coast University.
