0:00the numbers told the story of the always down. So I'm those idiots who believe in athletics. This is a numbers game with Gill Avixander on V-Send. Friday edition of a numbers game here on V-Sendee Sports betting network. Matt Brown in for Gill Alexander. Kelly Bidlin here on the desk with me is we will get into not only the NBA obviously, but a little bit more motor sports. That's right from room some baseball of the college variety as well as major league baseball. I can't wait. Matt Curissa will be on about an hour and a half to talk about that. You'll hear him on the network all the time. You will be hearing him regularly here on a numbers game. I believe on Fridays going forward just to get everybody set for those weekend series that we get in college baseball. Early look at some NFL stuff as well so that we can start to earmark things we want to pay attention to in the offseason and draft. We want to go about betting these things. We want to go about a

1:00little bit more. Maybe you think a number is too good to be true and you want to go ahead and put that into the account. Of course, we will see if there's anything that Kelly and I really, really like when it comes to the outtalks of NBA. Three point competition because that's the only thing that really matters. Oh, I think it matters. I know we've had these discussions the past, but I don't remember your answer. I usually like to take one or two guys. It's the fun little one that matters. It's the only one that matters. It kind of cracks me up because it's kind of like when we talk about it. It's the very, you go to NBA.com. I look at very, very same stats and yeah, that's why I decide who I'm in a bet on. Although I cannot remember a three point contest ever or in recent history where we have someone like a Damien Lillard participating that I think it's an interesting discussion. So we will head on that later. There is no NBA. There is no NHL. There is no major league baseball. And of course, football is over. 2:00But the talk of sports radio for the last bout week has been the whole tanking issue. And finally, we have some sort of action on that front. Adam Silver find the Utah jazz half a million dollars. Conduct detrimental to the league. Indiana Pacers get fined $100,000 for violation of the player participation policy. He says overt behavior like this. Prioritizes draft position over winning undermines the foundation of NBA competition. And we will respond accordingly to any further actions that compromise the integrity of our games. Of course, this is Adam. Silver is coming in here additionally. We are working with our competition committee in board of governors to implement further measures to root out this type of conduct. Now, Kelly, you and I have talked about this the last couple of days. We don't think there is a really good answer right now as to how to get rid of all of this. Everything that gets floated. There's holes. There's not going to be a perfect plan with all of this. And honestly, if you're a

3:00billionaire owner and they find you have a million dollars, but you still get to the top of the draft and get the player that you want. You kind of laugh it over. You laugh all the way to the bank anyway. You don't really care. But I think for the public out there, maybe even for us and that are looking this a little bit more seriously. At least something has been done. At least some sort of statement has been made. Now, what you talk out fine for what they were doing is different for what the Pacers got fine for what they were doing. That said, I think the Pacers thing is more of a warning shot. Yes. Everybody else going, hey listen, it wasn't as a gregious as the jazz. But if you start doing this stuff, this is what could come down the pike for you here. And so Adam Silver goes out the half a million dollars to the jazz, a hundred thousand to the Pacers and basically says, you're making the league look bad. And we are not going to deal with you making the league look bad. Yeah, absolutely. Like you said, we've been talking about it. We've been talking about it. Everybody's been talking about for the past few weeks now. But really the past few days. And yes, I think what the jazz started doing specifically

4:00last Saturday night in that magic game. And then we saw it Monday again against the Miami Heat something needed to be done. And look, I think it's, I think these are interesting conversations, especially I was on a betting network, right? Because as long as I can make money on something, I don't really, I don't really care as much what the result is with stuff like this. But from a league standpoint, yeah, I think they needed to do something like that. I was waiting to see how long it was going to take for the NBA to step in and do something like this at least. Well, like you said, this is not just us having a talking point on one of these morning shows or my value. This actually does affect us in the betting world, right? Because again, it's the scourting of what the jazz room was scourting the whole player participation policy because they were playing the dudes. They were just yanking them and not playing them very many minutes, right? And so that does affect us because at least if the guy is playing the game, they're playing the game so that does affect us because at least if the guy is out, you can adjust your opinion accordingly, right? But if every single time a team takes the court, you're going, well, is he going to play 18

5:00minutes a night? Is he going to play 28 minutes tonight? Is he going to come up with a some sort of ankle in, you know, whatever? Like then everything just gets thrown out the window and all the stuff that we're trying to do kind of doesn't matter. Like I said, I mean, we're guessing and we're trying not to guess here. We're trying to provide our listeners, our viewers with the very best information possible to go and make an intelligent bet. Well, if we're guessing as to who's actually going to be playing for these teams, then it's impossible for us to do. Yeah, and it's like, look, I think the jazz specifically, right? The jazz specifically are the team that this is, uh, look, I don't, because I wouldn't be shocked if this gets even uglier between the NBA and like you said, warning shot to the Pacers, everybody else kind of knows what they're doing, right? Like we've got over some of these teams before. The Brooklyn Nets are not going to get in trouble. The Brooklyn Nets have somebody to bench or anybody, you know, I mean, Michael Porter is going to be the only guy we can talk about. They got rid of Cam Thomas, say, you know, with one of their best scorers, and we'll see what he does, uh, played for the buck, has been playing for the bucks for the past couple games, but like they got rid of him, they can throw out anybody they want to.

6:00They're not going to get in trouble from the league because that's how bad the team is, which also goes just real quickly sidebar. The how many ideas I've heard of how to fix the tanking process. We do have to keep in mind still, what is the draft in any sport? What is it designed for initially to allow bad teams a chance to get better? And I feel like so many ideas that I've heard it's like, well, Brooklyn is never going to get better with these ideas. They're just too bad. But the jazz, and this goes back, this is a year, a year and a half now, right? They got dinged with a couple fines last year that they were not happy about with Lowry Market and missing games, and there is no doubt in my mind that they said to themselves these last week, it was well, okay? We got treated a little unfairly. We thought a year ago, we're going to kind of skirt the rules here and see, you know, and see what happens. And I thought, I thought it was a great, great quote from ownership. Is it the immediate fire back? You can dig $500,000? Like, we want a basketball game. Like, we beat the heat on Monday. What you're finding us? We beat the heat on Monday. What did we do? So I don't know

7:02that this is the end of the jazz and the NBA going at each other, I think, for the rest of the teams. Hopefully they got the message of, okay, we can play this clean, play this right, the right taking way, at least down the stretch. Yeah. And again, there is no end in sight to this. And we don't know exactly how to fix it. But at least we know that the league is going to do something. Like, they are going to at least start finding these teams. And we'll see what Adam Silver has to say about all these meetings that he just alluded to that they're going to have. You know, and lastly, Matt, just it's interesting, right? We talk in the NFL all the time. Whenever we get on Roderick Adele about something, right? It is what is his job? His job is to represent all the owners in the league, right? And the NBA NBA has always been a little bit different with that, right? But Adam Silver is going to be in a tough position if he's putting himself between the owners and, you know, the players association, anybody else on the other side, all of us that are on the other side, it's a tough position to be in. Yeah. No doubt about it. We did have three games in the association last night.

8:02The box beat the heavily favored thunder by 17 points. Bucks outscored the thunder in every single quarter of the game. Shot better from the field. Shot better from three committed six fewer turnovers. Basically, just beat them top to bottom. Yeah. In this game, we got lucky because the handicap is the handicap. We did go under on check because of a blowout. But guess what? The blow was in the other direction. So he got benched for the other reason, not because they were winning so big because they were losing so big. So sometimes you get lucky with these bets. But a very interesting, I know Mike Sommage has an under bet on the Bucks season win total. This was certainly one he was considering to be a loss. I'm pretty sure. And the thunder, you know, Kellison, I know you can't you can't like go crazy here because they don't have SGA on the court. But but this is a team that we were talking about literally three weeks ago as maybe being the greatest team of all their they're going to lose three games all year and all, you know, all these crazies to and then the here we are getting not losing but

9:02getting blown out by the box. Yeah, it's a look at it's bad right now. No SGA I think and look I think one of the things we learned in the playoffs last year. This was a team I was loaded up with on championship tickets and Western conference tickets last year. Man, there was a few of those series you had to sweat right? And I think one thing you learned in the playoffs is first of all how special SGA is and he really is. I think for something people may be still doubting him a little bit a year ago. Yeah, he's that good a player and there's concerns when he when he's not playing where is the offense going to be able to consistently come from and it's always been a tough conversation for me all year Matt with this team because I I was heavy on them last year and entering this year. It was okay. I expect them to be a great regular season team and in maybe an all time great regular season team. Once we get in the playoffs I'm probably looking another way I'm probably looking towards Denver Nuggets. That's kind of still my plan. But you know, beginning of the season they start off hot we're having all those conversations and then

10:02it's I don't want to make excuses but I'm going to like it was there was it was several weeks of some ridiculous bad shooting variance that they went through in December and then it's been injury after injury that I know we want to say hey this team is so deep. Why do these matter so much but they have they've clearly affected this team with some of the different guards being out real quick good. I mean good hit unshept by you by the way and it's just I don't know it's something to watch going forward. I'm not really super concerned about them the long term is I guess is what I'm saying. I say it Joe. Someone we're talking about here since SGA has been out 17 points last night 21 the game before 19 the game before that 21 the game before that. I say it Joe is one of the guys that is really stepped up here in SGA's absence some to monitor going forward. Yeah, it is listen, I'm not I'm not like trying to panic anybody about the thunder but I do think it's at least worth noting that if SGA. Yeah, like without SGA in there it's not like you lost a game like you're losing to a team that honestly it's probably

11:02better for them to lose too with the box but yeah they should be losing and instead you get you get thought by 17 when you're a 13 14 point favorite. You know going back it was part of your prop conversation we had around chat yesterday too right when you're talking about games that there's no I think SGA is that good of what what I just said no Jalen Williams in that game. This is in theory supposed to be a big three or whatever going forward. It does chat have that offensive upside. Can he be that guy when these guys are out and I don't maybe not fair for me to ask it like that but it's some point in this career you think he's got to start making that move. It does make you wonder if they were to have to be without any of those guys for any spirit time. Could he be that guy that doesn't look like now at least as of right now still two more games to recap what went on in the first round of the golf tournament as well. Well, especially remember the draft last year, right? He was the guy who kind of fell. There was a lot of questions about, yeah, you just keep him out on the court and keep playing him. Yeah.

So it's like, I don't want to read into it too much, but we have discussed you and I talked about yesterday kind of this back injury and in and out, in and out is kind of what he's been. And I'm really wondering, we'll talk about later in the show. I think the most improved player race is going to be interesting down the stretch here. You hit it with your holiday though, like he can still play like that, man. And I think there are, I think there's a couple teams that still wish he was around. I, you know, Milwaukee, Milwaukee bucks, right? Like this is if, I love to the game trade at the time. I think they did in theory though, if you could rewind a couple moves that have been made over the past couple of years through holidays, his impact is feeling missed. And yeah, look, it's always fun. You're not going to see a little ton of LeBron, right? Around this weekend, probably with all the Stargabes stuff going on. Great game, though, with it to finish it out. And it's no incredible what he can do at this age. It really is. Matt, I always say you probably haven't said it to you. Tell it to Gil. I tell it to Chris Foster who runs our audio all the time because Gil and Chris love to get in LeBron MJ argument. So I have every single break. The still I think the

17:05most impressive thing I saw LeBron James doing his entire career was last summer when he was just carving up every European team in the Olympics. It was just it was just crazy. There was nobody that could slow him down the amount of people that it's just still at his age. He is still so much better at the basketball as well. Not that anybody cares, Michael Jordan was the greatest player ever up until that point. And then LeBron James happened. And then that's what and now LeBron James is the greatest player ever. Here's the thing. He's a guy that can play all five positions. Yeah. And has done so. And is playing at a extremely high level into his 40s. I mean, like let's let's be for real. It's incredible. Let's be for real. We got to call space. It's a different. It's just a different form of athletes. We evolve. I'm saying we just evolve as athletes. Everybody is going to be better. When he's going to end up being better than LeBron as long as the health holds up and whatever. You know, I mean, like we have a guy that seven foot five that can point guard. We are very likely talking about Victor when you know, being the best best basketball player ever is some people forget that he's still an infant. You know, I mean,

18:08like so again, it's just it's evolution. It's just evolution of athletics. Jeremy Sohn is going to sign with the Knicks. They're Kelly after being released by the Spurs. He was the ninth overall pick in 2022 still only 22 years old. He averaged. I mean, 10.45.6 over 212 games for the Spurs with limited minutes. I mean, this was a guy that was getting really, really restricted there. Fill out the rotation due to Carter Bryant really kind of emerging there for this team. So he's going to get there and sign with the Knicks and see if he can't carve out some sort of role with. I like it. Which is weird. Like, do I think he's going to make a major impact for this Knicks team this year? No, probably not. But for a team that's relatively old, you just went over it's still this is still a young player you're getting. And man, if you watched any of the Spurs during the bad years, this was a guy that was used in a lot of different ways to try to, you know, plug some holes and figure out some issues on that. They ran him at point guard. They ran them. They basically played him all five positions at different points on his

19:08career in San Antonio. So it's for a Knicks team that yeah, it's a bit older, a bit longer in the tooth. And you're wondering what is the future hold? This is at least a small building block, I think, that you can use going forward. And yeah, first I don't think it's much of a knock on Jeremy. So hand to say, okay, the San Antonio Spurs just continued to load up on more and more better talent over the past couple of seasons. He fell out of the rotation happens. Yeah, I mean, that's the thing. And honestly, they both were kind of like, hey, listen, he's been great. He is shown up. He is not complained. He's not whatever. We want to do him a solid. Mm hmm. Because we understand he doesn't want to play five minutes again. And more people need to see the interesting hairstyles of Jeremy, so you know, you get green, you get, it's just a throwback to Dennis Rodman sometimes. Yeah. So maybe the end of this, we don't know for sure. But as of right now, Ole Miss has their quarterback back again. So after being denied by the NCAA, the court has ruled that Trinidad Chambers can have that sixth year of eligibility. And so basically said that,

20:10and this is a, this is Judge Robert Whitwell. He's a good one. He's one of the better ones. Said that Chambers clearly met the criteria to receive a medical red shirt for a sixth season. He detailed the NCAA ignored medical evidence in denying Chambers' waiver the first time around and all of this and said that he submitted adequate medical reference and that the NCAA didn't act in good faith in denying the waiver. So if you're Ole Miss and you're down lane, Kiffin, and all of this stuff, like getting back a quarterback that led you to such success last year has to be huge. They are 40 to one in the market as of this morning, where yesterday in that kind of 5560 range, something like that. So you know, again, there's, whenever you take a question mark away from a team, obviously it's going to be good and getting a quarterback back that did have a ton of success for this team is, is definitely good for them. So again, I'm guessing that this might not be the end of this, but at least as of this morning, as we sit here on Friday the 13th. By the way, it's Friday the 13th. Happy Friday the 13th, everybody. Overall, this stuff going on. Yeah, it's pretty crazy. Danny was keeping me updated on this yesterday. I'm like, I lost track of this, this story like three court cases ago. I don't know how much I care the call. This is how much of the best college football is right now and it's bizarre to me that we're in a world. We're like, Dante Moore and Shameless are both just like, they would be what? Two, second, third, quarterbacks drafted. Dante Moore definitely would be at number two, right? And then, and then, and then, and then, Shambles, okay, maybe he's a couple rounds down, but there were people talking about him, maybe going in the first round,

22:11just wild to me that we're like, yeah, we're good. We're good on the NFL. We're good. We're going to stick around. Why to stay in college? Make seven figures and you get to live another year of college. Guys, the fill the Phillies release Nick Castellanos. This is in part, according to him, Kelly, for him bringing beer into the dugout. So he was mad that he got pulled for defensive purposes in a game and decided he was just going to start popping a cold when they're in the in the dugout and they were like, you know what? We don't like that. And we think that that's a bad idea. And at least in part played him getting released. That didn't really matter. They owe him $20 million. 25:28any drivers as you were in the kind of research in this thing off season? You are either higher on, think maybe have a breakout in front of them or on the vice versa end of this, maybe just that you actually absolutely hate for this season. It's funny. You should ask Matt because this year, NASCAR has completely changed the playoff format. So gone is the win in your in system. So it's more focused on points, winners of each race get like a point bonus instead of just automatic birthing to the playoff. So I think we're going to see a more deserving champion. And with that, Caesars had a prop. It's not up right now because qualifying happened, but keep an eye out for it. We're going for a straight forecast of Kyle Larson to finish first, William Byron to finish second. That was 16 to 1 over at Caesars. I think those two guys benefit the most at anybody in the field from this new format. They're consistent. They can win week to week. Kyle Larson might be the greatest driver on planet earth. So 16 to 1. If it pops back up, lock that in. We're just

26:34better than doing the championship five to one. Phil, we're, you know, every time we get Daytona rolls around, really. Obviously unique. He's one of the biggest, the biggest race of the year and kind of starts the season. So we're locking on Daytona. There's other major story lines either heading into this major story lines in the sport that people need to be aware of. I feel I feel like every year there's different rule changes to the car or something like that. Just anything for people out there betting that they need to be aware of with NASCAR in general this year. The biggest one, I guess, is Chevy is putting out a new body style. They completely redesigned their car this season. So it's a bit of a mystery what they're going to get. So I think we're going to see some track types where they hated out of the ballpark. I know we're going to see some clunkers out of them as a manufacturer. So that's something to keep an eye on. But the rule change was the big thing during the offseason with the point structure. So that's really going to shake up and change the sport. Phil, we know how this race kind of plays out usually, right?

27:36Some big wreck and then somebody that was able to escape it ends up winning. How did you start your card and did, and how much does that even play into a kind of, you can't really predict who's going to be in the wreck and when it's going to happen and how it's going to happen. So you just kind of have to know that it will happen. And if it is one of your dudes, then so be it. Correct. Yeah. At Daytona, the super speedway drafting tracks, it's actually our least favorite kind of racing handicap. We prefer the boring snooze fests because there's more predictability. With these, what we do is we just will create a portfolio of drivers, educated darts, because at some point, a 15 car pile up is going to determine our afternoon. So scatter shot is the method. And we've got five guys where we're keyed in on to make up that portfolio. Yeah, I like that feeling. And Matt and I do a lot with golf. And sometimes there's those type of tournaments, too, where we think there's going to be a lot of scoring. And it's okay, maybe we don't bet this many outright general. Because this is I'll tell you, this is Daytona 500 has become a annual betting race for me at this point. And it's I like to jump in live after I see some of these wrecks occur. So is that something you also do or not really? Yeah. In fact, for the bankroll management, everything we do on a super speedway, we cut back to half. So if matchups are a one unit play, it's a half unit play at Daytona. And then you just you have a little bit more to freedom to make those live bets as well. If you know, everybody ends up in a scrap heap. Okay, let's get to your outright card here. We'll start with the shortest shot that you have. And you just said might be the best driver on the planet. Kyle Larson. Yeah, we we think that he's being priced wrong, which is wild, because he's he's last year season champion. But the books kind of sleep on him on these these drafting tracks. And they really shouldn't. He had four stage wins across the six super speedway races last year. He's fourth in our model. And he's being priced

29:42around the seven eight nine tier. So we've got some value there. He was second best in average running position last year on supers. He spent the second most laps inside the top 15. So that shows he can be up front. It's a great number for a guy that we think will make it through the carnage. You know, and then we'll we'll work backwards from there with with some longer shots. Yeah, yeah, I'll just I'll set you up for that. Phil, you got a couple of the longer shots. We started 40 to one with tie Gibbs and we get any even longer from there. So what do you like about the rest of the outright card? Yeah, so tie Gibbs. He quietly led the fourth most laps at supers. Speedway last year, almost 11 per. So he's got a sustained front of the pack presence. We like that. 40 to one is is great legitimate upside. Colt Custer, you finished fourth at Daytona in the spring last year, fifth at Talladega last year, 80 to one. This guy is is very quiet. Now these these long shot drivers, the best thing we can hope for is that we forget they exist

30:43for 490 miles and that they're in the mix late. So this is survival. The next one is Jimmy Johnson, eight to one. That's a familiar name. He's a seven time series champion. He's won the Daytona 500 twice, but he's very old. So think Tom Brady lacing him up one more time. We're betting on that veteran grit, you know, the patience and just trying to be there at the end. He finished third last year doing that exact same thing. And then Riley Herbst, he's 125 to one. His car looks exactly like Ty Gibbs. So the black monster energy cars, you can root for both of them. 125 to one. These five guys are worth a shot. I like that. Makes it easy. The cars look the same. You just root for that monster energy. I like it. There we go. All right. So let's get to some head to heads here. By the way, guys, it's kind of like, you know, you'll hear Kelly now. There's a lot of similarities actually in Asgard and golf. Yeah. Whenever it comes to betting. And so we'll bet head to heads as well. And you have three of them. We do. Yeah. It is a lot like golf,

31:44except it's compressed into one three hour window instead of four days. So it's certainly a rush. We like Ty Gibbs over the rookie Connor Zillich. Gibbs for all the reasons we mentioned. Zillich, he is immensely talented. He's incredible. He won a ton of races in the lower division last year. But there's going to be a learning curve. We saw it last night in the qualifying duels. We ended up pitting alone and that ruined his race. So all it takes is one misstep at near even money. We like Ty Gibbs over Zillich. We also like Larson for all the reasons we said over Austin Cindrick. Cindrick, he's a former Daytona 500 champion. We still have a very small actionable edge here. We just like Larson's floor and instead of both of their ceilings. I think they both can win. But Larson is more predictable. The final one we like, Michael McDowell over Ricky Stenhouse. Both of these guys have won the Daytona 500 recently. But last season, Michael McDowell was the only driver with top 20 finishes at every drafting track, all six of them. He had

32:48the third best average finish. He avoids trouble really, really well. We like the selective Michael McDowell over the aggressive Ricky Stenhouse junior. So let's bank on McDowell here. All right. I like it. Phil, I'll ask you for. I know a lot of people will be looking for the scatter shot approach. A lot of names that they're going to want to bet who is kind of the one or two guys that kind of just missed your card that you're going to be beating yourself up over if they end up winning the thing. Oh, man. It's funny. You should mention that as well. Guys like AJ Almondinger, he's further down the card in that midfield. He showed some some super speedway prowess in the lower Xfinity series. So he might be a guy that can get it done. You may want to take a shot on McDowell, but his number just isn't quite at the threshold. We needed to play a win there. And we like John Hunter and Emechek as well as sort of a longer shot. He's very quiet on these super speedways, but, but you know, he gets across the line. He's effective. Well, he is Phil. Matt McLean probably can't be as bad as he was last year. But it's just it's the division is so deep that I don't think I can get there. And the only thing I think I would do is possibly possibly take a chance on the win total and just think that they might be able to get to this win total and still not come close to winning the division because of the fact that the burgers and the cubs exist. But you got a rotation that has 100 green and Andrew Abbott. That's two pretty good front front end guys. Ladolo on occasion looks like a front end guy. Chase Burns is certainly a highly touted prospect for them first rounder back in 2024. I mean like it's not a it's a team where I think you either bet the the tail which on the high end is is maybe them winning the end. I all

No, you've got pirates also that I want to want you to get to. But then Brewers and Cubs I've heard positive things out of two. So would it would you be shocked if these four teams finished in any order one through four? I would be shocked if the Pirates won the division. Okay. But I think the other three are all are all alive. But that being said I'm not I have the pirates over on a win total. Yeah.
